Stirling: A historically and strategically important city in Scotland, and the site of two major battles during the first War of Scottish Independence: Stirling Bridge (1297); and Bannockburn (1314). The two video images show the Wallace Monument with a Scottish flag, aka The Saltire, and Stirling Castle, at one time a royal residence.
9). Outer Hebrides: Also known as the Western Isles, they comprise 15 inhabited islands and over 50 mainly uninhabited islands. The largest island is Lewis & Harris with a population of over 21,000 and home to the largest town, Stornoway. The video images show the famous Callanish Stones on Lewis and the spectacular Luskentyre Beach on Harris.
8). Inner Hebrides: An archipelago off the west coast of Scotland comprising 44 uninhabited and 35 inhabited islands including: Skye; Mull; lslay; Mull; and Iona. 7). Loch Lomond: The largest loch in Scotland, with many islands, is a popular leisure destination for boating, water sports, and angling. The loch is featured in the song “The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond” made famous by Scottish Celtic rock band Runrig. The video images show the paddle steamer, Maid of the Loch, and a view of Loch Lomond islands from the West Highland Way as it passes over Conic Hill.
6). Glencoe: An iconic Scottish Glen and site of the infamous Glencoe Massacre in 1692. The two images show the Glen looking North West, and Blackrock Cottage with the distinctive Buachaille Etive Mòr (Big Etive Shepherd) as a backdrop. Glencoe was featured in the 2012 James Bond Movie Skyfall and is home to the Aonach Eagach (Notched Ridge) a narrow ridge on the north side of the glen.
5). Loch Ness: The largest body of water in the UK and best known for alleged sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, popularly known as “Nessie”. The two video images show a view of the Loch and Urquhart Castle and the River Ness at the City of Inverness. The castle is one of the most visited in Scotland, possibly because of “Nessie”. Inverness is known as the Capital of the Highlands and sits on the large River Ness which flows from Loch Ness into the Beauly Firth.
4). Isle of Skye: A magical island full of spectacular mountains, rivers, land and seascapes. The two sites featured here are The Old Man of Storr and The Fairy Pools. The former featured at the start of the Sci-Fi movie Prometheus, and the latter has attracted recent publicity due to unprecedented visitor numbers.
3). Scottish Highlands: Home to spectacular natural mountains, rivers, glens, and many manmade edifices such as Eilean Donan Castle and the Glenfinnan Viaduct. These iconic structures have both featured in several movies: Eilean Donan in Highlander (1986) as the home of Clan MacLeod; and Glenfinnan Viaduct features in four of the Harry Potter films as the Hogwarts Express trundles over its spans.
2). Glasgow: The largest city in Scotland and a historically major centre of shipbuilding and heavy engineering, so much so that Glasgow was referred to as the Second City of the British Empire. Despite the demise of these traditional industries Glasgow still has the largest economy in Scotland. The city is also home to some famous attractions including the couple in the video: Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum; and The Waverley, the only seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer in the world.

Stirling is a city in central Scotland. The market town, surrounded by rich farmland, grew up connecting the royal citadel, the medieval old town with its merchants and tradesmen, the bridge and the port. ocated on the River Forth, Stirling is the administrative centre for the Stirling council area, and is traditionally the county town of Stirlingshire. Proverbially it is the strategically important Gateway to the Highlands. It has been said that Stirling, like a huge brooch clasps Highlands and Lowlands together. Similarly he who holds Stirling, holds Scotland is often quoted. Stirling's key position as the lowest bridging point of the River Forth before it broadens towards the Firth of Forth, made it a focal point for travel north or south.
Once the capital of Scotland, Stirling is visually dominated by Stirling Castle. Stirling also has a medieval parish church, the Church of the Holy Rude, where, on 29 July 1567, the infant James VI was anointed King of Scots by the Bishop of Orkney with the service concluding after a sermon by John Knox.[14] The poet King was educated by George Buchanan and grew up in Stirling. He was later also crowned King of England and Ireland on 25 July 1603, bringing closer the countries of the United Kingdom. Modern Stirling is a centre for local government, higher education, tourism, retail, and industry.
Stirling is renowned as the Gateway to the Highlands and is generally regarded as occupying a strategic position at the point where the flatter, largely undulating Scottish Lowlands meet the rugged slopes of the Highlands along the Highland Boundary Fault. Top of the Town consists of Broad Street, Castle Wynd, Ballengeich Pass, Lower Castle Hill Road, Darnley Street, Baker Street ( formerly Baxters St) and St Mary's Wynd. These streets all lead up to Stirling Castle and are the favourite haunt of tourists who stop off at the Old Town Jail, Mar's Wark, Argyll's Lodging and the castle. Ballengeich Pass leads to the graveyard at Ballengeich and the Castle Wynd winds past the old graveyard. The Top of the Town from Broad Street upwards is renowned for its cobblestoned roads, and cars can be heard rattling over the cobblestones on the way down. Craft shops and tourist-focused shops are evident on the way up and once at the top, panoramic views are available across Stirling and beyond. Other Areas of Stirling include :

10. Strathclyde Country Park:
Strathclyde Country Park is an iconic North Lanarkshire Country park which lies in 400 hectares of countryside in the valley of the River Clyde. Set within beautiful surroundings the park is one of the most popular family attractions in the central belt of Scotland, with thousands of visitors coming each year to the park in order to enjoy the vast range of activities and events on offer.
The park has many amenities and attractions to offer hosting many events throughout the year including; international rowing competitions, music festivals, fireworks events, guided nature walks and various club activities.
9. Celtic Park:
Celtic Park in the Parkhead area of Glasgow, Scotland, is the home ground of Celtic Football Club. With a capacity of 60,411, it is the largest football stadium in Scotland and the eighth-largest stadium in the United Kingdom. It is known by Celtic fans as Parkhead or Paradise.
8. Glasgow Necropolis:
The Glasgow Necropolis is a Victorian cemetery in Glasgow, Scotland. It is on a low but very prominent hill to the east of Glasgow Cathedral. Fifty thousand individuals have been buried here. Typical for the period, only a small percentage are named on monuments and not every grave has a stone.

George Square is the principal civic square in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is one of six squares in the city centre, the others being Cathedral Square, St Andrew's Square, St Enoch Square, Royal Exchange Square, and Blythswood Square on Blythswood Hill.
Named after King George III and initially laid out in 1781 but not developed for another twenty years, George Square is surrounded by architecturally important buildings including on the east side the palatial Municipal Chambers, also known as the City Chambers, whose foundation stone was laid in 1883, and on the west side by the Merchants House. Built by Glasgow Corporation the Chambers are the continuing headquarters of Glasgow City Council.

The People’s Palace is set in historic Glasgow Green and tells the story of Glasgow and its people from 1750 to the present day.

Glasgow Science Centre is a visitor attraction located in the Clyde Waterfront Regeneration area on the south bank of the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Queen Elizabeth II opened Glasgow Science Centre on 5 July 2001. It is one of Scotland's most popular paid-for visitor attractions.

Glasgow Cathedral, also called the High Kirk of Glasgow or St Kentigern's or St Mungo's Cathedral, is the oldest cathedral on mainland Scotland and is the oldest building in Glasgow. Since the Reformation, the cathedral continues in public ownership, within the responsibility of Historic Environment Scotland.

Glasgow Botanic Gardens is a botanical garden located in the West End of Glasgow, Scotland. It features several glasshouses, the most notable of which is the Kibble Palace.

There are over 90 large touch screens panels full of images, memories and films that tell the fascinating stories behind the objects. A visit to the Riverside provides the ultimate day out. The Riverside is a multi-award winning museum located on the banks of the River Clyde, with over 3000 objects on display from Glasgow’s rich past. You will find an incredible array of objects from skateboards and vintage cars to prams and powerful locomotives. You can even walk down an old cobbled Glasgow street with shops dating from 1895 to the 1980s.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of Scotland's most popular free attractions and features 22 themed, state-of-the-art galleries displaying an astonishing 8000 objects.
The collections at Kelvingrove are extensive, wide-ranging and internationally significant. They include natural history, arms and armour, art from many art movements and periods of history and much more.
The most famous painting on display at Kelvingrove is the Salvador Dali masterpiece ‘Christ of St John of the Cross’. Sir Roger the Asian elephant is another big museum attraction. There is even a Spitfire plane hanging from the ceiling of the west court.

Killin is a village situated at the western head of Loch Tay in Stirling, Scotland. The west end of the village is magnificently sited around the scenic Falls of Dochart, the main street leading down towards the Loch at the confluence of the rivers Dochart and Lochay. The falls are crossed by a narrow, multi-arched stone bridge carrying the main A827 road into Killin.
Killin railway station was on the Killin Railway. The railway station was officially closed on 1 November 1965. Killin has a small primary school with 56 pupils. For secondary education the children have to travel to Callander, 21 miles to the south. The nearest Gaelic medium primary is in Stirling, 37 miles to the south.
The MacNab Clan were once dominant here, and have long been associated with Killin. Their ancient burial ground is on Inchbuie in the River Dochart, just below the falls, and is visible from the bridge. Kinnell House was the seat of the MacNabs. A well-preserved prehistoric stone circle (possibly 'restored' to improve its appearance) known as Killin Stone Circle can be seen in the grounds of the house. To the north of the village lie the ruins of the Campbells of Breadalbane stronghold of Finlarig Castle, with its associated chapel. The growing power of the Campbells eventually ousted the MacNabs, who lost Kinnell House to their rivals. In 1694 Sir John Campbell of Glenorchy, 1st Earl of Breadalbane established Killin as a Burgh of barony. In 1949 Kinnell House and its estate returned to the ownership of the Chief of Clan Macnab, but in 1978 death duties forced the then Chief, James Charles Macnab of Macnab, to sell most of the estate.
In 1767 the minister of Killin, James Stuart, published the first New Testament in Scottish Gaelic. By the end of the 18th century there was a local linen industry. Flax was grown locally, spun in small mills and woven into linen by home based weavers. Today, Killin services the local rural community and the growing tourism and leisure industries. In addition to walking on Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve, fishing for trout and salmon there are various watersports available on Loch Tay. Many local vernacular buildings have been preserved or converted, allowing the village to retain much of its historic character.
The 19th century Moirlanich Longhouse in nearby Glen Lochay is a rare surviving example of the cruck frame Scottish longhouse, and is now in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. The former Breadalbane Folklore Centre in the Victorian mill by the falls displays the 'healing stones' of Saint Fillan.
Tomnadashan Mine, an abandoned copper mine overlooking the village, is sometimes identified as the haunt of the Rabbit of Caerbannog of Monty Python and the Holy Grail fame. Nearby Glen Lochay is the mysterious location to which Richard Hannay, played by Robert Donat, heads in the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film of The 39 Steps.

Drymen is a village in Stirling district in central Scotland. Drymen lies to the west of the Campsie Fells and enjoys views to Dumgoyne on the east and to Loch Lomond on the west. The Queen Elizabeth Forest reaches down to the village edge, and the whole area is part of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park (the first National Park in Scotland).
It is often used as an overnight stop for hikers on the West Highland Way, and forms the western end of the Rob Roy Way. There are a couple of pubs and a walkers' shop. The Clachan pub claims to be the oldest pub in Scotland and to have a connection with the family of Rob Roy.
Despite the growth in the numbers of villagers commuting to Glasgow to work, there remains an agricultural tradition in the area. Every year, in early summer, an agricultural show is held in the fields around the Endrick Water. The Scottish family name Drummond is derived from the Scottish Gaelic form of the village's name.
