Vorkuta is a coal-mining town, situated in the northeast of European Russia, just north of the Arctic Circle. With it's satellite towns, Vorkuta forms the so-called Vorkuta Ring or Vorkuta Circle, which included such towns as Severny, Tsementnozavodsky, Yur-Shor, Promyshlenny, Vorgashor, Komsomolsky, Mulda, Zapolyarny, Oktyabrsky, Sovetsky and others. Their population was employed in coal mines and other industrial and military facilities. After collapse of the Soviet Union, many mines were closed due to accidents and high operating costs and people began to move to other regions. The towns of Vorkuta Ring became partially or completely abandoned, some were demolished.

Franz Josef Land, Franz Joseph Land or Francis Joseph's Land (Russian: Земля́ Фра́нца-Ио́сифа, tr. Zemlya Frantsa-Iosifa) is an archipelago, inhabited only by Russian military base personnel, located in the Arctic Ocean, Barents Sea and Kara Sea, constituting the northernmost part of Arkhangelsk Oblast in Russia. It consists of 191 islands, which cover an area of 16,134 square kilometers (6,229 sq mi), stretching 375 kilometers (233 mi) from east to west and 234 kilometers (145 mi) from north to south. The islands are categorized in three groups, a western, central and eastern, separated by the British Channel and the Austrian Strait. The central group is further divided into a northern and southern section by the Markham Strait. The largest island is George Land, which measures 2,741 square kilometers (1,058 sq mi), followed by Wilczek Land, Graham Bell Island and Alexandra Land.

Moscow Canal | 4K Timelapse | 12 hours in 16 minutes
On the russian river cruise ship Rodnaya Rus we’ll sail through the Moscow Canal from the quays of the North River Terminal to the town of Dubna in timelapse mode and see the entire canal.
We’ll pass through Khimki, Klyazminsky, Pyalovsky, Pestovsky, Ikshinsky, and Ivankovsky reservoirs. Then we’ll go down a total of 38 meters from the level of Khimki reservoir to the level of the Volga River (Ivankovskoye reservoir) in five canal locks. But that's not all! Finally, we’ll descend 11 meters in Lock No. 1 of the Moscow Canal in Dubna.
During the long daylight hours of our cruise, we’ll see almost the entire canal, all of its banks, bridges, berths, and barrage gates.
