The ruins of Spiš Castle (Slovak: Spišský hrad; Hungarian: Szepesi vár; Polish: Zamek Spiski; German: Zipser Burg) in eastern Slovakia form one of the largest castle sites in Central Europe. The castle is situated above the town of Spišské Podhradie and the village of Žehra, in the region known as Spiš (Hungarian: Szepes, German: Zips, Polish: Spisz, Latin: Scepusium). It was included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1993 (together with the adjacent locations of Spišská Kapitula and Žehra). Davidov je obec na Slovensku v okrese Vranov nad Topľou.
Davidov je obec, ktorá leží na severozápade Východoslovenskej nížiny v Podslanskej pahorkatine, rozčlenenej potokom Olšava. Západnú časť chotára tvoria strmé zalesnené východné svahy Slanských vrchov, východná časť je odlesnená.
Prvý najstarší písomne doložený názov obce sa objavuje v roku 1361 pod názvom Dauidhaza. Názov dedinky Davidov prešiel rôznymi zmenami. K roku 1399 obec poznáme pod názvom: Dauidwagasa, roku 1458 ako Dewith. V roku 1773 má obec názov: Dawidow, 1808 – Davidowce, 1900 – Davidov – Davidwagas, 1920 – Davidov.
Prvá písomná zmienka je v dokumentoch z obdobia Žigmundovcov, kde bolo potvrdené vlastníctvo Rozgoniho, ktorý už v roku 1327 viedol spor o majetok v Davidove s Nekcheyovcami. Podľa historika Csánkiho v blízkosti Davidova v roku 1268 sa spomínalo posvätné miesto „Sz Gyorgy“v preklade Svätý Juraj, ktoré bolo v 15. storočí spustošené. Z iných prameňoch je zas uvedené , že obec vznikla na základe zákupného práva a založili ju usadlíci so Šoltýsom Dávidom v roku 1361.
Obec Davidov bola do 17. storočia príslušenstvom hradného panstva Čičva, obec v roku 1402 patrí Rozgonyi-ovcom. Vojnové hrôzy v roku 1490–1492 zbedačili slovenské mestečka a dediny natoľko, že poddaní opúšťali svoje domovy a hľadali živobytie inde. Roku 1493 sú v obci zemepáni Tárczay, Kapi, Csire. Koncom 15. storočia sa obec vyľudnila. V roku 1556 obec mala 2 porty a 3 želiarov. Roku 1585 patrí vranovskému panstvu a rodinám Báthory, Rákoczy, Soós a ďalším /Csáky, Barkószy, Szirmay, Vladár a i.. K roku 1850 majiteľmi obce boli tí istí ako v Banskom (t.j. Rodiny Soós, Kandó, Szirmay, Bernáth, Nemethy, Vladár). V 19. storočí pribudla aj rodina Hercegovcov. Chotár obce k roku 1850 mal 3000 jutár, z čoho z pôdy za 18 port a 5 želiarskej bolo 460 jutár oračiny, 180 jutár lúk, 50 jutár majerskej pôdy, ostatok krovinaté lesy.
