Route: From Câmpina to Comarnic, thru Teșila
From Câmpina, take the road 102I to Teșila. This drive features a mixture of sweeping curves and straights, with a great surprise almost at the end, near Teșila: Paltinu dam. Located in Prahova county, on the river Doftana, Paltinu dam was made in 1966 and put into service in 1971. The landscape is amazing and continues to be that way until the Doftana’s Valley. In springtime, fog can occur.
But the real beauty of this road starts from Teșila to Comarnic, thru Secăria, the DJ101S. Because it’s not very circulated, you can enjoy the landscape and the ride without any difficulties. It is not widely known, so you won’t see more than 10 cars.
The quality of the road is acceptable, with some potholes and sandy portions. Definitely you will want to ride and enjoy the surrounding beauty than to race with your friends. Sometimes will barely fit two cars on the road.
It’s a pleasure to drive thanks to the beautiful curves and switchbacks which are not difficult to drive. In the autumn, this part of the road, from Teșila to Comarnic looks amazing, thanks to the brown, red and yellow leaves. You may also want to open the window to breathe the clean air in here and maybe to make a stop and talk with locals.
The road from Câmpina to Comarnic, thru Teșila is a way to discover new places and especially enjoying a road where you will be almost the only driver, with great landscapes and fresh air.

Comanesti town is a friendly and quiet town in Northern Romania, in the county of Bacau, Moldova region. The town is inhabited by almost 20,000 people. Comanesti is famous for the unexplained event called the ”Comanesti explosion”. In short, on April 20, 2006, a large explosion occurred in the area. No smoke and no crater or debris were left following the strong sound heard in the neighbouring counties on a radius of 15 km. The conspiracy theories emerged after that. Some told it was a similar incident to the Tunguska phenomenon. Others mentioned a possible meteorite to hit somewhere in the area. But no conclusive evidence was found. Other theories mention a plane breaking the sound barrier, but the sound of the explosion was too loud for that. Also, possible mine exploitation or military training were cut off the list of possible explanation, as nothing of the kind happened during that day. Comuna Valea Doftanei este amplasata intr-un cadru natural pitoresc, cu multe valente turistice si lipsit de surse de poluare si degradare a mediului. Campina lui Grigorescu si Hasdeu se afla la rascruce de drumuri. Din ea pleaca in directia nord o sosea ce serpuieste pe valea apei Doftana. Dupa ce Iasi in urma colinele domoale, muzeul Doftana de la Telega si cheile Brebului, valea se ingusteaza, capatand frumuseti montane desavarsite. Inainte de intrarea in localitatea Valea Doftanei, apele raului au fost zagazuite prin constructia barajului de la Paltinu, formand un lac de acumulare ce poate fi asemuit cu o mica mare montana - zona turistica de mare atractie.

CAMPINA / Trenuri la -12 grade
Bun gasit dragi prieteni... Ne aflam la Campina, o gara si un oras minunat de pe magistrala 300. Asa cum vedeti si in titlu, in ziua respectiva, temperatura anuntata a fost de -12 grade, insa garantat au fost mai multe, deoarece a fost si putin vant (lucru ce sporeste si mai mult senzatia de frig), plus ca am fost situat intr-un loc unde atrage si mai mult vantul. Nu m-a speriat acest aspect, tinand cont ca recordul meu ptr iesirea pe calea ferata pe timp de ger , a fost in iarna trecuta , la -22 de grade in zona montana.
