Day 13-The last mile as we arrive in Port Suakin, Sudan
It is an old city that looks as if it has been bombed. This is due to the fact that most buildings were constructed with corals ( they look like stones , but in fact when seen at close inspection they are corals) . They did not prove resistent to time. You may see all 290 videos of our expedition at my Playlist SUDAN in my channel. You are welcome to subscribe

SUDAN VLOG - WEEK FIVE | Touring a coral city! | Suakin, Sudan
This week has us exploring our new neighbourhood and taking a trip to Suakin, just to the south of Port Sudan.
Suakin has 3000 years of history! In its heyday it was the epitome of luxury and was the main trading port linking Asia to Africa.
It is home of the first Bank built in Sudan, plus the second mosque in the country. The buildings were built of coral!
Today Suakin is in ruins, but improvements are being made and we we do hope that this spectacular place will welcome many visitors soon.

Our Murals: ***************************************************************************** ABOUT US:
HI THERE! WE ARE JILL AND CHRIS! In 2017 we packed up our life, and quit the 9-5 to head out into the world. We came with no expectations, we only wanted to experience life. Since then, we have packed more fun and adventure into our lives than we ever could have imagined.
Being on the road now for over three years, has brought with it the freedom to explore what it is that we really want to do with our lives, the time to pay attention to the things that are truly important to us, and the adventure to really make life fun and interesting once again.
We left seeking an exciting life, and we have not been disappointed!
We mostly travel without a plan, we just let the chips fall where they may, then figure it out as we go. We find that in doing this, the most unexpected and interesting opportunities present themselves, and it truly keeps us on our toes. We are also slow travellers, preferring to spend a month to three months in each country that we visit. We know that we won't see every country in the world, but by sinking into each country for a longer length of time, we get a much better feel for the culture and the people than we would if we just skipped over each one quickly.
We are also on a mission of painting the planet one mural at a time! We truly enjoy spreading love through our art whenever we find the opportunity to do so. If YOU need a mural painted, get in touch!

FIRST BANK IN SUDAN | BUILT OUT OF CORAL! | #shorts | Suakin, Sudan
This #short is of the first bank in Sudan that sits on the Island of Suakin. This building, and many others on the island were built out of coral!
This ancient Island was once the main entrance to Africa from Asia. It was the height of luxury and saw goods of all descriptions come through it bound East and West along the vast trade routes.
