It is a major holiday destination popular with the international jet-set, with casino, nightclubs and beaches, which are made of fine grained sand, and are not straight, but instead are cut with small inlets.
Situated west of the town of Antibes on the western slope of the ridge, halfway to the old fishery village of Golfe-Juan (where Napoleon landed in 1815), it had been an area with many stone pine trees (pins in French), where the inhabitants of Antibes used to go for a promenade, for a picnic in the shadow of the stone pine trees or to collect tree branches and cones for their stoves.
The village was given the name Juan-les-Pins on 12 March 1882. The spelling Juan, used instead of the customary French spelling, Jean, derives from the local Occitan dialect. Other names discussed for the town include Héliopolis, Antibes-les-Pins and Albany-les-Pins (after the Duke of Albany, the fourth son of Queen Victoria).
The following year, 1883, it was decided to build a railway station in Juan-les-Pins on the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée (PLM) line that had been there since 1863. Cette aire Camping-Car Park est en hauteur de Sausset-les-Pins, à 10 minutes à pied de la ville, du port et de la plage, et moins de 5 minutes de la gare SNCF qui offre de bonnes opportunités pour aller visiter Marseille. L'aire coûte 14,20€ les 24 heures avec tous les services, y compris l'électricité. Attention, les emplacements sont tous en pente, prévoyez les cales. En ce moment, le WiFi ne semble pas fonctionner et une borne électrique est couchée sur le sol. Cependant, elle semble fonctioner. L'aire est bien éclairée et très calme la nuit. Le jour, on entend un peu la route. La zone de vidange est à l'extérieur de l'aire et un peu étroite pour manœuvrer. C'est une aire sur bitume.

This Camping-Car Park aire is at the height of Sausset-les-Pins, a 10-minute walk from the city, the port and the beach, and less than 5 minutes from the train station which offers good opportunities for visiting Marseille. The aire costs €14.20 for 24 hours with all services, including electricity. Be careful, the pitches are all on a slope, plan to use wedges. Right now the WiFi doesn't seem to be working and an electrical terminal is lying on the floor. However, it seems to work. The aire is well lit and very quiet at night. During the day, you can hear the road a little. The dumping/refilling area is outside the aire and a bit narrow to maneuver. It is an aire on tarmac.
