🇫🇷 With a surface area of 5.45 km2 and a depth of 71 meters it is one of the largest natural lakes of France. It is noted for its blue-green colour and the seven hot water springs. The communities of Novalaise, Lépin-le-Lac, Saint-Alban-de-Montbel and Aiguebelette-le-Lac border west side of the lake, whilst the Chaîne de l'Épine ridge lies to the east with its high point at Mont Grêle (1,425 metres (4,675 ft)). At the southern end there are two islands, La Petite Ile and La Grande Ile which has a chapel.

Exploring Fort du Mont Alban
My dog Tyson and I go out exploring Fort Du Mont Alban , just 20 minutes away from Monaco. We discover the most intact French Riviera fort as well as some insane Cote D'azur views. We find a few hiking trails in the South France that go around the Fort and decide to try one of them, surrounded by spring flowers and stunning views on Nice, Villefranche and Cap Ferrat! Always love hiking in Cote D'Azur, especially when I get to see beautiful nature, magnificent history and of course my buddy Tyson!

Located in the town of Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes, the fort of Mont Alban is a former military fortification built in the mid-sixteenth century.
Located on the eponymous hill, it is one of the rare vestiges of military architecture of this period still in good condition in France.
Classified historical monument, it knows many damages over the centuries, especially during the Second World War.
From a television relay in the late 1950s, he saw his forested area in the mid-1970s with the addition of benches and other picnic tables.

Today we are in St Albans, one of the most fascinating cities in the UK with a couple of thousands years of history. It is located in Hertfordshire, about 22 miles north-west of central London. It is pretty easy to get there by train from London Euston station. Come with me for a walk through the mediaeval heart of the city just steps away from the ancient Roman town of Verulamium, once the second-largest town in Roman Britain. Here are well preserved parts of the walls, mosaics and Roman theatre. Saint Alban, patron of the city, was a Roman soldier, who lived in the 3th century, who was beheaded because dared to help a Christian priest. Shortly after Norman conquest of England by William the Conqueror in 1077 began construction of the magnificent St Albans Abbey, which was destroyed in 1539 during Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries, however, only the church, St Albans Cathedral since 1877, and abbey gateway, built in 1365, remaining intact.
St Albans was the site of two battles during the Wars of the Roses: The first one took place in 1455, when Richard, Duke of York, father of the future king Richard III, defeated King Henry VI of the House of Lancaster. In 1461 the Second battle was fought, however, this time the Lancastrian army won over the House of York, resulting in the release of King Henry VI.
St Albans is a site of one of the world's oldest schools, founded in the middle of the 10th century, Ye Olde Fighting Cocks is said to be the one of England's oldest pub, set up in the 8th century and rebuild in 1599, the last remaining mediaeval belltower in England, built in the 15th century, and many many well preserved mediaeval houses on the French Row.

Le Puy Camino: Le Puy-en-Velay to Saint-Alban | Part 1 (Via Podiensis)
Follow along as we walk over 1500 km on our longest Camino yet — the Via Podiensis — from Le Puy-en-Velay, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
We started the Via Podiensis (Le Puy Camino) on August 7, 2023, spending 28 days walking in France, arriving at Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on September 3rd. From there, we continued on the Camino Frances, arriving in Santiago on September 29th.
This is our first time walking the Via Podiensis and our second time on the Camino Frances. We have hiked several other Camino routes in Spain including the Camino Primitivo (May 2023), Camino de Invierno (March 2023), the Camino del Norte (July 2019), and the Camino Frances (September 2017). We packed ultralight bags for all of our journeys.

Bike Touring France: a little walk around Labeaume a Village de caractère
Hi and welcome to a little extra from my bikepacking france series, where I've attempted to ride from the North east of France to the Spanish border in the south. In this second episode with some leftover material, we have a short walk around the lovely village Labeaume in the Ardeche. Do check out my entire Bikepacking France series where the general plan was to start in the Alsace, then go to the Champagne region and then head south towards the Bourgogne and onwards. I'm using my gravel bike, the Rondo Ruut ST for this trip as it has many luggage options and nice fat tyres. This one is really a trip down memory lane for me, trying to connect many places I've been before in the past. Hope you like it and as always, enjoy your rides and stay safe out there !
