Rosebank - The place to stay in Johannesburg | City Sightseeing to Soweto | Gauteng | South Africa
Our 24-day Southern Africa Adventure Safari concluded in Johannesburg, where we were dropped off in Sandton. We extended our stay by 3 nights, staying at the hip neighbourhood of Rosebank. Any city slicker would feel at home here, surrounded by the vibes at The Zone @ Rosebank, Craddock Square, and Rosebank Mall.
Rosebank is also the main tour office and stop of the City Sightseeing (Hop On Hop Off) bus in Johannesburg, so it was a convenient way to see the city and its sights like St. John's College, Hazeldene Hall and those listed below in the Chapters. An extended tour brought us to Soweto, and included the iconic FNB (Kaizer Chiefs) and Orlando Pirates stadiums.
When it was time to get to the O.R. Tambo Airport, Rosebank had a Gautrain station, which accepted credit cards without having to purchase tickets. Africa continues to impress.

This 24-day overland, camping adventure in Southern Africa covered South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe (and Zambia for some). We camped for 13 nights, the rest of which were spent in hotels, lodges or tented camps. Our group size was 16, comprising participants from Canada, Portugal, UK, Denmark, and Czech Republic.
Our guides from the NE South Africa region were Bheki and Duncan. We travelled in a purpose-built Hino truck by the operator, Drifters, though participants booked the trip through different agents.

With over 30 restaurants, we think it’s safe to say that The Zone @Rosebank has all of the culinary offerings one could ever hope for, making it the perfect spot to host Hello Joburg Magazine’s Eat the World Foodie Tour.
Our tour started off on a high note (literally) at the spectacular bar and restaurant at The Holiday Inn. Offering stunning views of the jacaranda trees and a glorious pool deck, it proved to be the ideal place to welcome our guests. It also provided a great backdrop for said guests, which included the likes of Dee Mandic (@thatstotallyfetch_sa), Sara Morshedi (@glamhousesa) and Jade Voges (@jade.voges) to snap some picture-perfect #OOTDs while enjoying the welcome drinks.

Join our Scenic tour of Johannesburg from our main departure point in Rosebank and explore the leafy suburbs around Zoo Lake passing Zoo lake, the Johannesburg Zoo and the Military Museum. Travel over the scenic Munroe Drive, past Constitution Hill into the Johannesburg CBD. We travel through the Mining District, past the Carlton Center, James Hall Museum of Transport to the Gold Reef Casino Hotel. Enjoy a comfort stop here to make use of the bathrooms.
