A town with tradition: already in 947 Rorschach had received the right to hold markets and developed itself in the Middle Ages into the most important trading place on the southern side of the lake. The prosperity of these times can still be seen today in the stately homes in the heart of the locality and in the Kornhaus, the emblem of Rorschach and the most beautiful grain silo in Switzerland.

Sightseeing in Rorschach am Bodensee, Switzerland (Lake Constance)
Rorschach in a small harbour town in St. Gallen district in Switzerland, which is located between the hills of the Appenzellerland and at the south side of Lake Constance (Bodensee). This town with its beautiful promenade and stately public buildings is also known as Rorschach am Bodensee. This can be a good sidetrip as it is a link to the other bigger cities St. Gallen, St. Margrethen and Romanshorn by train, and its port has cruise ships that sails daily to to Lindau, the island of Mainau/Meersburg and over the Altenrhein to Rheineck. Rorschach offers a beautiful lake promenade that stretches along the length of the city. It attracts guests from all over the world for a walk all year round. The bathing hut is directly connected to the lake promenade. Rorschach Kornhaus is the most beautiful granary in Switzerland, impossible to miss from the lake or land and it now houses a regional history museum. Other notable places to visit are the Markthalle Altenrhein which is an example of Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s architecture,
Fliegermuseum Altenrhein (aviation museum), Oldtimer Museum in Rorschach and Saurer Oldtimer-Museum in Arbon and Cruises on the Alte Rhein.
