Slovakia (Cave Gombasek) - Steve
Cave Gombasek (10 km from Rožňava) is located in the middle of the Slovak Karst National Park. It was discovered in 1951. Out of a total length of 1,525 m, 285 m are accessible to the public. The cave corridors were created by the erosive activity of the Black stream underground river. Due to its beautiful decoration, it is also called a fairy-tale cave. Its decoration consists of variously formed sinters, colored with a rich range of colors from white through yellow to ocher. The cave is known mainly for the occurrence of thin tubular stalactite formations (2-3 mm thick and up to 3 m long). It has extremely favorable microclimatic conditions. The cave Gombasek is included in the world natural heritage with the caves of the Slovak and Aggtelek karst.
La cueva de Gombasek (a 10 km de Rožňava) se encuentra en el medio del Parque Nacional del Karst de Eslovaquia. Fue descubierto en 1951. De la longitud total de 1.525 m, 285 m están abiertos al público. Los pasillos de la cueva fueron creados por la actividad erosiva del río subterráneo - corriente Negro. Debido a su hermosa decoración, también se le llama cueva de cuento de hadas. Su decoración consta de varios formas de sinteres, pintados con una rica paleta de colores desde el blanco al amarillo y al ocre. La cueva es conocida principalmente debido a formaciones de estalactitas tubulares delgadas (2-3 mm de espesor y hasta 3 m de largo). Tiene condiciones microclimáticas extremadamente favorables. La cueva Gombasek está incluida en el patrimonio natural mundial con las cuevas del karst de Eslovaquia y Aggtelek.
Gombasecká jaskyňa (10 km od Rožňavy) sa nachádza uprostred Národného parku Slovenský kras. Objavená bola v roku 1951. Z celkovej dĺžky 1 525 m je verejnosti prístupných 285 m. Chodby jaskyne vznikli eróznou činnosťou podzemnej rieky Čierny potok. Pre svoju krásnu výzdobu sa jej hovorí aj rozprávková jaskyňa. Jej výzdobu tvoria rôzne tvarované sintre, vyfarbené bohatou paletou farieb od bielej cez žltú po okrovú. Jaskyňa je známa hlavne výskytom tenkých rúrkovitých stalaktitových útvarov (2 - 3 mm hrubých a až 3 m dlhých). Má mimoriadne priaznivé mikroklimatické podmienky. Gombasecká jaskyňa je zaradená do svetového prírodného dedičstva spolu s jaskyňami Slovenského a Aggtelekského krasu.

Poprad (Hungarian: Poprád, German: Deutschendorf) is a city in northern Slovakia at the foot of the High Tatra Mountains famous for its picturesque historic centre and as a holiday resort. It is the biggest town of the Spiš region and the tenth largest city in Slovakia with a population of approximately 55,000 people.
The Poprad-Tatry Airport is an international airport located just outside the city. Poprad is also the starting point of the Tatra Electric Railway (known in Slovak as Tatranská elektrická železnica), a set of special narrow-gauge trains connecting the resorts in the High Tatras with each other and with Poprad. Main line trains link Poprad to other destinations in Slovakia and beyond; in particular, there are through trains running from Poprad to Prague in the Czech Republic.
The territory belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary since the 10th century and was probably originally inhabited by Slavic settlers. It was colonized in the 13th century by German settlers and became the largely German town Deutschendorf meaning 'Germans' village'. From 1412 to 1770, as one of the Szepes towns, Poprad was pawned by the Kingdom of Hungary to the Kingdom of Poland, resulting in a strong Polish influence on the city's further development.
Poprad itself, the first written reference to which dates from 1256, was for 690 years (up until 1946) just one of several neighbouring settlements, which currently make up the modern city. The other parts of the current municipality are Matejovce (first reference 1251), Spišská Sobota (1256), Veľká (1268), and Stráže pod Tatrami (1276). The most significant of these original towns was Georgenberg (or Szepesszombat, now: Spišská Sobota), which preserved its dominant position in the area until the late 19th century.
In 1999, Poprad put in a bid to host the 2006 Winter Olympics, but lost to Turin, Italy.
Poprad lies at an altitude of 672 metres above sea level. Poprad is situated on the Poprad River in the Sub-Tatra Basin, and is a gateway to the High Tatras. Mountain ranges around the city include the Levoča Hills in the east, Kozie chrbty in the south, and the Low Tatras in the southwest. The drainage divide between the Black Sea and Baltic Sea lies a bit to the west, near the village of Štrba.
Poprad lies in the north temperate zone and has a humid continental climate (Köppen Dfb) with four distinct seasons. It is characterised by a significant variation between warm summers and cold winters.

Náš prvý vlog z cesty po východnom Slovensku.
Prednedávnom sme sa vydali na cestu po východnom Slovensku, na ktorej sme sa rozhodli ukázať vám skryté klenoty tohto nepoznaného kraja. Kam sa vydať na výlet alebo na dobrodružnú cestu v blízkosti ukrajinských hraníc?
Naša cesta začala na Zemplínskej Šírave, kde sme si vychutnali krásny východ slnka a úžasnú atmosféru menej poznanej strany druhej najväčšej vodnej priehrady na Slovensku. Nasledoval krátky presun cez obec Remetské Hámre priamo k Morskému Oku, nášmu sopečnému jazeru, ktoré sa nachádza hneď pod Sninským kameňom, na ktorý sme čo najrýchlejšie vybehli, aby sme sa hneď na to mohli okúpať v Beňatinskom kameňolome. Ten je známy svojou krásnou tyrkysovou vodou a krásnou okolitou prírodou. Uvedomujúc si, že sme len pár stovák metrov od Ukrajiny a prechádzajúc okolo hraničného priechodu sme pokračovali na vodnú nádrž Starina, ktorá zásobuje pitnou vodou viac ako polovicu východného Slovenska. Nadšenie nás napokon zavialo až do najvýhodnejšej obce na Slovensku, Novej Sedlice.
Ako to celé prebiehalo a čo môžete očakávať od výletu na miesto, kde nič nie je?
