Senegal | Long road to Podor, stuck at Richard Toll + great view of Senegal | Senegalese Twisted
Hello everyone!
It's that time again.. I am going to Podor (again) to visit my family and grandma. I prefer taking the night bus to travel from Dakar to Podor, however, it's not always possible to take one (planning + it gets full soon). Therefore, I took the morning bus for once and boy, did I regret that (worse timing ever), but in the end, everything always works out.
I took the bus that left Dakar at 6am and it seemed to be going well. We arrived at Richard Toll before 2pm, so we were really having a good trip - it seemed to go fast. However, we got stuck in Richard Toll because of an explosion at the factory (I'm telling you more about it in the video)... We got stuck in Richard Toll for a couple of hours, but afterwards we were back on the road again!
Definitely enjoy the road from Dakar to Podor with me. The trip is super long, so I understand why people don't easily go to Podor from Dakar. I really like visiting Podor for a couple of days, catch up with my family and then head back to Dakar. This time I loved capturing the things I saw between Dakar and Podor, because when I travel at night, I don't really see much of it..
Enjoy the vlog (appreciate the things we see on our way to Podor) and if you have any questions, ASK AWAY (you can do this on Instagram or TIkTok as well)!
If you want to stay in the loop, definitely me on instagram @senegalesetwisted).
After almost 3 years, I find myself back in Dakar, Senegal. I plan on staying in Senegal for about 3 months. Mostly to work on creating content, connecting with local creatives and to work on some personal projects such as my next Wolof class.
Thank you so much for following me, watching my video's, leaving kind words of encouragement or just reaching out and sharing memes. I really appreciate each and everyone of you! If you want to tip me for any work I have done, you can! -

Driving on N2 Through Sebikotane, Thies, & Tivaouane En Route to Saint Louis, Senegal
I’m in a “sept place” taxi from Dakar to Saint-Louis, Senegal. We’re now starting on Route N2. Traveled on a modern multi-lane tollway east from Dakar but now on a two-lane regular highway. Passing through the town of Sebikotane.
5:00 p.m.: Just made a quick stop on the side of the road for some passengers to buy bags of oranges. The taxi was swarmed by orange vendors.
5:15 p.m.: Coming into the city of Thies. We make a left turn onto the VCN Bypass around Thies. Going north and then east to bypass the main part of the city to continue on N2.
5:28 p.m.: We are off the VCN Bypass and back on N2 continuing east-northeast on our way up to Saint-Louis.
5:48 p.m.: Coming into the outskirts of Tivaouane. Passed a gas station. I noticed the price was CFA 595 per liter, so that makes it $3.90 per gallon.

My trip to Senegal in 2007
We drove all the way to VIENNA, AUSTRIA! || Van Life Europe
Our journey to Vienna began in Scotland but we pick up where we left off in last week's video, in the north of France. We made the mammoth 14 hour drive from Calais to the outskirts of Vienna in our self converted camper van. Vienna is a beautiful city with plenty to see, it's a city that we have been looking forward to explore. In this week's video we take you around Vienna showing you how we enjoy the city. We first surprise Calum's Mum for her big birthday with an unexpected birthday dinner. For the next two days we had the freedom to explore Vienna, visiting the incredibly beautiful St. Stephens Cathedral, exploring the unique streets and socking up some Viennese culture in one of the cutest restaurants we have ever visited (Puestner Restaurant).
→ As we were on a budget, we still wanted to visit one museum and we picked Leopold Museum. The museum contains large collections of modern Austrian art, featuring artists such as Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka and Richard Gerstl. We loved it so much.
It cost 15 euros to entry.
→ Is Vienna a good van life destination?
This is a question we asked ourself while traveling to the city. It was unclear if it would be possible to get into the city without an EU environmental sticker. This is something we where unable to get our hands on. You need an environmental sticker if you wish to take your camper van into most cites in Austria. If you get one of these stickers then you will have no problem visiting the city. However we would still recommend Vienna as a van life destination even if you don't have the sticker.
We discovered a cracking park-up for our van on the outskirts of the city at a railway station. It was free to park. The city was only a short 20 minute train ride. This meant we where able to enjoy the city all day and take a late train back to the comforts of our wee home.
We bought a day pass for 8 euros each and included the train journey, trams and metros (we think haha).
Thanks for watching and see you next Monday!
