Troy is a city in the U.S. state of New York and the seat of Rensselaer County. The city is located on the western edge of Rensselaer County and on the eastern bank of the Hudson River. Berlin Mountain, Rensselaer County, NY High Point, Panoramic View

Berlin Mountain, at an elevation of 2,818 ft (859 m), is the highest point in Rensselaer County and the Taconic Crest Trail. It is along the NY/MA state line and about 5 miles south from the Vermont state line in the Taconic Trail State Forest. Multiple trails converge at the summit, which is a large clearing with 2 large rocks and a tailgate from a Ford pickup. The Catskills in the southwest could be glimpse through gaps in the trees at the summit. Nearby Mount Greylock, Massachusetts highest point, is in full display at the summit.

Video starts looking at the rocks and tailgate at the summit with Mount Greylock close by. As the video pans counter-clockwise, the Williams Trail starts near the 1st tree that comes up. Trail leading to Bee Hill Road starts near the next tree that comes up. Northbound Taconic Crest Trail comes up next between the trees. After the Taconic Crest Trail, the Catskill mountains could be seen in the distance through the gaps in the trees. Taconic Crest Trail southbound is near the last of the trees as the video pans back toward view of Mount Greylock.

Six Mile Waterworks Park & Rensselaer Lake | Walking Tour

Today we were at the Six Mile Waterworks Park & Rensselaer Lake which is an artificial lake in Albany, New York, the United States named for Major-General Stephen Van Rensselaer, last patroon of Rensselaerswyck. The lake was Albany's first municipally-owned source of water. It is part of a 57-acre park and the state's Albany Pine Bush Preserve. The lake and park have been under the purview of the Albany Water Authority since 2003.

Today we visited Averill Park which is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Sand Lake, Rensselaer County, New York, United States. According to the 2020 Census, the town has a population of 1,228 people. The village is named after the local Averill family. It is located on Route 43, south of Crystal Lake and east of West Sand Lake. The Sand Lake Baptist Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is a highly rated research university in Troy, New York, with additional campuses in Hartford and Groton, Connecticut. It was established in 1824 by Stephen van Rensselaer and Amos Eaton for the application of science to the common purposes of life and is the oldest technological university in the English-speaking world and the Western Hemisphere.[7] Numerous American colleges or departments of applied sciences were modeled after Rensselaer.[8]

Built on a hillside, RPI's 265-acre (107 ha) campus overlooks the city of Troy and the Hudson River, and is a blend of traditional and modern architecture. The institute operates an on‑campus business incubator and the 1,250-acre (510 ha) Rensselaer Technology Park.[9]

RPI is organized into six main schools which contain 37 departments, with emphasis on science and technology.[10] It is recognized for its degree programs in engineering, computing, business and management, information technology, the sciences, design, and liberal arts. As of 2017, RPI's faculty and alumni include six members of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, six National Medal of Technology winners, five National Medal of Science winners, eight Fulbright Scholarship recipients, and a Nobel Prize winner in Physics; in addition, 86 faculty or alumni are members of the National Academy of Engineering, 17 of the National Academy of Sciences, 25 of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, eight of the National Academy of Medicine, one of the National Academy of Public Administration, and nine of the National Academy of Inventors.[11] RPI has been ranked since 1970 among the top 50 American universities.[12]
