Amersfoort was elected European City of the Year in 2023 by the Academy of Urbanism and we couldn’t agree more. The city is an incredible medieval town located in the province of Utrecht (Netherlands). Amersfoort city center has several historical buildings dated back to the Middle Ages. The most famous and iconic medieval building of the city is undoubtedly the Koppelpoort, which is a medieval city gate that was completed around 1425. Muurhuizen is also a special feature to discover in Amersfoort, it literally translates to houses next to the gate, in some parts of the city, you can witness the remaining vestiges of the Muurhuizen. There are also some famous buildings such as the Groot Tinnenburg, the Dieventoren, the Kamperbinnenpoort, etc. Join us on this walking tour to discover the marvels of this Dutch medieval town.

The city of Amersfoort in The Netherlands (Utrecht province) was voted European City of the Year in 2023, and we needed go see for ourselves! This is a city that is often recommended to us by viewers of the vlog, so we were really excited to finally visit!
We made the quick drive from our home in Amsterdam to spend a fall afternoon in Amersfoort, where we climbed the gorgeous tower, checked out the Saturday market, and toured the The Mondriaan House, a museum dedicated to the famous Dutch artist, Piet Mondriaan.
