Saint-Dié-des-Vosges - Driving Down Rue D'Alsace Leading To Beautiful Church #driving #france
[ENG] Saint-Dié is located in the Vosges Mountains 80 km (50 mi) southeast of Nancy and 80 km (50 mi) southwest of Strasbourg. This route in the valley of the river Meurthe was always the more frequented, and first to get a rail line in 1864, so now it accommodates the primary road.
Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, principal town of an arrondissement of the same name, belongs to the Vosges département of France. This commune with a little town in her center, is approximately 50 km (31 mi) northeast of Épinal, and connected by two roads, south through the passes of Haut-Jacques and Bruyères or north by the pass of Haut-du-Bois and the ancient land of Rambervillers. By rail, Épinal is 61 km (38 mi) from Saint-Dié.
The river Meurthe flows in the Permian basin of Saint-Dié surrounded by wooded mountains Ormont, Kemberg and La Madeleine. The peaks of these mountains are 550 metres (1,800 feet) high, and are composed of Triassic formations, especially the so-called Vosges sandstone, a kind of red sandstone.

Epinal American Military Cemetery 🇫🇷
#abmc #france #travel
Explore the hallowed grounds of the Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial with us in this poignant visit. Located in Dinozé, France, this solemn site, covering 48.6 acres atop a plateau overlooking the Moselle River and the Vosges Mountains, is the resting place of 5,255 of America's fallen heroes. Most of these brave souls made the ultimate sacrifice in the battles that raged across northeastern France, reaching all the way to the Rhine River and deep into Germany during World War II.
Established in October 1944 by the 46th Quartermaster Company (Graves Registration Service) of the U.S. Seventh Army, this cemetery became the final sanctuary for those who perished in the harsh battles during the winter of 1944–45, particularly in the Heasbourg Gap.
A special moment of significance occurred on May 12, 1958, when thirteen caskets, each draped with the American flag, were placed side by side at the memorial. These caskets contained the remains of one Unknown American from each of the thirteen permanent American military cemeteries in the European Theater of Operations. In a solemn ceremony, the Unknown from the European Theater was selected to represent all those who had made the ultimate sacrifice. The remains were then transported to the United States for a final selection of the Unknown from World War II, who now rests at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
The memorial itself is a dignified structure that includes a chapel, portico, and map room featuring a mosaic operations map designed under the direction of American artist Eugene Savage. The Court of Honor surrounding the memorial bears the names of 424 of the missing, with rosettes marking the names of those who have been found and identified. As you walk down the tree-lined mall, you'll reach a circular flagpole plaza with an expansive view of the beautiful Moselle Valley.
This cemetery stands as a testament to the sacrifice of American servicemen and women, including Medal of Honor recipients like Victor L. Kandle, Gus J. Kefurt, John D. Kelly, and Ellis R. Weicht. Their heroic actions in the face of the enemy during World War II are forever honored here.
Epinal American Cemetery is open daily to the public, with a dedicated staff member on hand to answer questions and assist relatives in locating grave and memorial sites. Pay your respects and learn more about this sacred ground by visiting

American Battle Monument Cemetery in Epinal, France
This video presents a brief narrated tour of Epinal American Cemetery's landscaped grounds, architecture, and works of art.
The Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial in France, 48.6 acres in extent, is sited on a plateau 100 feet above the Moselle River in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains. It contains the graves of 5,255 of our military dead, most of whom lost their lives in the campaigns across northeastern France to the Rhine and beyond into Germany. The cemetery was established in October 1944 by the 46th Quartermaster Graves Registration Company of the U.S. Seventh Army as it drove northward from southern France through the Rhone Valley into Germany. The cemetery became the repository for the fatalities in the bitter fighting through the Heasbourg Gap during the winter of 1944-45.
The memorial, a rectangular structure with two large bas-relief panels, consists of a chapel, portico, and map room with a mosaic operations map. On the walls of the Court of Honor, which surround the memorial, are inscribed the names of 424 of the missing. Rosettes mark the names of those since recovered and identified. Stretching northward is a wide, tree-lined mall that separates the two large burial plots. At the northern end of the mall, the circular flagpole plaza forms an overlook affording a view of a wide sweep of the Moselle Valley.
On May 12, 1958, thirteen caskets draped with American flags were placed side by side at the memorial. Each casket contained the remains of one World War II Unknown American, one from each of the thirteen permanent American military cemeteries in the European Theater of Operations. In a solemn ceremony, General Edward J. O'Neill, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Communication Zone, Europe, selected the Unknown to represent the European Theater. It was flown to Naples, Italy and placed with Unknowns from the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of Operation aboard the USS Blandy for transportation to Washington, D.C. for final selection of the Unknown from World War II. On Memorial Day, 1958, the remains were buried alongside the Unknown from World War I at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
The cemetery is open daily to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except December 25 and January 1. It is open on host country holidays. When the cemetery is open to the public, a staff member is on duty in the Visitor Building to answer questions and escort relatives to grave and memorial sites.

The majority of journalists around the world have chosen to develop their subject on controversial and sensational themes: violence, war, crime. But all these facts represent only 1% of our world and its inhabitants, forgetting the remaining 99% of which we never speak. I chose to visit every country on the planet and film them to present them in High Definition format but in a raw way, without music, without comment. Simply, reality in all its truth. Luxembourg is a small country in Western Europe. It borders Belgium to the west and north, Germany to the east, and France to the south. Its capital and most populous city, Luxembourg, is one of the four institutional seats of the European Union. Luxembourg's culture, people, and languages are highly intertwined with its French and German neighbours. While Luxembourgish is the only national language of the Luxembourgish people, French is the only legal language, and all three — Luxembourgish, French and German, are considered official languages and are used for administrative matters in the country. With an area of 2,586 square kilometers, Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe. In 2022, it had a population of 645,397, which makes it one of the least-populated countries in Europe.
