In the summer of 2022 we made a road trip from Budapest to the river Tisza and stayed in Nagykörű, a small village with friends for a few days. On the road we visited Szolnok, one of Hungary's big cities, had the best authentic Russian lunch experience (with loads of vodka), ate good, swam in the river, got rained on by a summer storm and had loads of fun at the apartment! Szolnok
Szolnok is the county seat of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county in central Hungary. Its location on the banks of the Tisza river, at the heart of the Great Hungarian Plain, has made it an important cultural and economic crossroads for centuries.
Szolnok is located in the heart of the Great Hungarian Plain, at the confluence of the Tisza and Zagyva rivers. It lies about 100 kilometres (62 mi) east-southeast from Budapest. The climate of the area is continental, with hot summers following relatively mild winters. The region is one of the sunniest in Europe; the average precipitation is about 490 millimetres (19 in) annually.
Szolnok was named for the first steward of the city, Szaunik or Zounok. The town was first officially mentioned under the name Zounok in 1075. In the following centuries it was recorded as Zounok, Saunic, Zounuc, and Zawnuch. The variety of spellings likely comes from phonetic discrepancies occurring when Hungarian sounds - originally written in runic Old Hungarian script - were recorded using the Latin alphabet. Another possibility revolves around speculation that the name Szaunik was not a personal name after all, but rather a title relating to the significant salt trade (salt, Hungarian: só) in the area.
In most other languages, the city's Hungarian name is used without derivation (for example French: Szolnok, Spanish: Szolnok). The city has its own name in a few languages (for example German: Sollnock or Zolnock, Romanian: Solnoca, Russian: Сольнок), deriving from these languages' historical relationship to the city.

The RepTár Aviation Museum is a unique exhibition on the history of aviation in Eastern Europe, in Szolnok. The museum has more than 4,500 m2 of indoor exhibition space and an open yard of about 60,000 m2.
In addition to the retired and restored aircraft located here, there are many interactive tools to offer visitors an experience. RepTár is not only an exhibition place, but also a theme park offering experiences and entertainment.
The collection, housed in the Aviation Museum, was compiled with the help of experts from the Institute of Military History and the Museum. The exhibited objects include military aircraft, helicopters, military equipment as well as engine models and other relics of Hungarian aviation history. The internationally listed collection of military aircraft, which the public has been able to visit at the Szolnok Aviation History Exhibition Center, has moved to the RepTár, supplemented with new pieces.

Today we are exploring the east part of Hungary, while driving on the newly finished expressway M4, from the the capital city Budapest to Szolnok to the M3 motorway near Hatvan. It was a nice relaxing drive through the flatlands of Hungary, with wide open views of the hungarian Puszta. Enjoy!

Jászjákóhalma határát már 10-13 ezer évvel ezelőtt járta a mezolit kori ősember, mint ezt a Jászberény határán lezajlott ásatás leletei bizonyítják. A településtől északra halad el a szarmaták által 324 és 337 között épített, a Dunát a Tiszával összekötő Csörsz árka nyomvonala.
A mai községet is valószínűleg magyarok lakták eredetileg, majd a tatárjárás után jászok telepedtek ide. 1357-ben már egy határperben említik Berénnyel, mely szerint Csupor Domonkos már régóta birtokolta a falut. Később több birtokosról van említés, 1550 körül a török összeírása szerint kb. 100 fő lakta.

A mai napon az uticél Szolnok, ott sétálunk a városban és a Tisza-parton. És mielőtt Szolnokra megyünk, az M4-ről letérünk Abony felé ott fogunk ebédelni a Mészáros vendég-lőben. Finom, házias ételek. A videóban a zenét a KÖZ-Pont Ifjúsági Egyesület Európa napi műsorábólvettem. A zenekar a jobb felső sarokban látható.

ERDÉLY - FILMBEMUTATÓ - HOMORÓDALMÁS
Nagy sikert aratott Homoródalmáson a Szolnok Televízió dokumentumfilmje. Stábunk egy évvel ezelőtt járt az erdélyi kis településen, ahol több napot forgatott. Az elkészült film díszbemutatóját néhány nappal ezelőtt tartották a falu kultúrházában, ahol ott volt a két alkotó, Skultéty József és Skultéty Zsombor is.
