Places to see in ( Haworth - UK )

Places to see in ( Haworth - UK )

Haworth is a village in West Yorkshire, England, in the Pennines 3 miles southwest of Keighley, 10 miles west of Bradford and 10 miles east of Colne in Lancashire. The surrounding areas include Oakworth and Oxenhope.

Haworth is a tourist destination known for its association with the Brontë sisters and the preserved heritage Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Haworth is in the Worth Valley amid the Pennines. It is 212 miles (341 km) north of London, 43 miles (69 km) west of York and 9 miles (14 km) west of Bradford.

Tourism accounts for much of the local economy, with the major attractions being the heritage railway and Brontë Parsonage Museum. In Haworth there are tea rooms, souvenir and antiquarian bookshops, restaurants, pubs and hotels including the Black Bull, where Branwell Brontë's decline into alcoholism and opium addiction allegedly began. Haworth is a base for exploring Brontë Country, while still being close to the major cities of Bradford and Leeds.

Haworth's traditional events were an annual service at Haworth Spa and the rush bearing. Spa Sunday died out in the early 20th century and the rush bearing ceremony has not been held for many years. A modern event organised by the Haworth Traders' Association is Scroggling the Holly which takes place in November.

Haworth railway station is part of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic preserved steam railway. The 43 miles (69 km) long Brontë Way leads past Lower Laithe Reservoir, Stanbury to the Brontë waterfalls, the Brontë Bridge and the Brontë Stone Chair in which (it is said) the sisters took turns to sit and write their first stories. It then leads out of the valley and up on the moors to Ponden Hall (reputedly Thrushcross Grange in Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights) and Top Withens, a desolate ruin which was reputedly the setting for the farmstead Wuthering Heights. Top Withens can also be reached by a shorter walking route departing from the nearby village of Stanbury.

Haworth is served by Keighley Bus Company rural bus service which provides links to the main local town of Keighley and the local villages of Oxenhope, Stanbury, Oakworth and Denholme. There is also a service to Hebden Bridge. Evening and Sunday services are partly paid for by Metro. Central North Street Car Park Haworth, formerly Changegate Car Park, has been subject of a Channel 4 television documentary The Yorkshire Clamper, regarding their tactics.

( Haworth - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Haworth . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Haworth - UK

12 Best Free Attractions in Bradford

Who wouldn’t want good things free of charge? We’d all want to be frugal during our vacation, and source for the cheapest, even free attraction. Yet, it’s said that nothing good comes without cost. But we want to refute that by saying that when it comes to tourism and travel, many good things come free of charge. Tourist attractions that others are spending hundreds of dollars to enjoy are somewhere free for those who know. We’re going to demonstrate this by showing the 12 best free attractions in Bradford. Such centers range from museums to parks and from castles to halls. Galleries too aren’t left out.
12. City Park
It seems so good to begin here. Almost anyone in the city knows the location of this park open to the public 24/7 all year round, except when closed for events. The main attraction in this park is its mirror pool. It’s the largest urban water feature in the UK and has bagged numerous awards. City Park is a fun feature by day as it offers lots of interactive enjoyment for your kids.
If you visit this award-winning public space at night, you will see a vast difference as the sun begins to lower, the mirror pool metamorphoses into magical water while light and laser display. The fountains are cool for pedestrians as they walk near the fire memorial.
11. Lister Park
Here’s another park just outside of the town center in Manningham that is counted among Bradford’s free attractions. Lister Park is one of West Yorkshire’s largest green parks. It’s named after Samuel Lister, a wealthy mill owner, and the estate’s owner.
Today, this park plays host to a wealth of events. It has many stunning landscapes and areas of greenery. You’ll also enjoy the boating lake with pedals having rowing boats. There are tennis and bowls, a cafe, botanical gardens, an art gallery, and Islamic water gardens. In this park is also a famous hall that is another one of Bradford’s free attractions in this video—Cartwright Hall with its Bradford Civic Art Gallery, the home of Bradford’s art collections.
10. Roberts Park
After the death of Sir Titus Salt, the builder of the mill, the village came under the management of a group of people with Sir James Roberts as a prominent member. A 14-acre parcel of land was made a public park in Saltaire which came to be known as Roberts Park.
It has become a beautiful bandstand playing host to a lot of live acts and entertainment events all year round. This park is carpeted by grass on a warm summer afternoon on which you and your kids can relax and enjoy the fun play equipment. You can also enjoy a ball game or two in the ample space in this park.
9. Peel Park
Here’s another award-winning, historic garden with carpeted lawns and luxe landscaping alongside a lake and artful statues. It is a 22-hectare urban park named after Sir Robert Peel. This park located just over 1.6 kilometers from Bradford city center, has large areas of open space with a children’s play area and a skate park. It has much to keep your family occupied for an afternoon. Your kids in particular will enjoy the Totem and Play trail featuring various wooden challenges with wooden animals and a wobble bridge. Okay, enough of parks; there are other free features.
