Walking Holiday in Palestine

Whatever you choose to call it -- Palestine; the Palestinian Territories; the Holy Land; the West Bank -- this ancient land remains one of the most fascinating - and controversial - places on the planet. On this 9-day trip - and in contrast to many other trips in the region - our aim is to travel (predominantly on foot) with neither a political nor a religious agenda, but instead with the aim of gaining an insight into the everyday lives and rich culture of the Palestinian people and experiencing a rarely seen side of the Middle East. My name is Marc Leaderman, I run the Group Tours department at Wild Frontiers, and in this video I am going to explain a little more about our 'Wild Walk In Palestine'.

After transferring from Tel Aviv airport, the tour starts in the old city of Nablus with its medieval souk and then travels slowly south as we walk from village to village, staying mainly with local families. From the fertile valleys of ancient Samaria we then skirt along the edge of the Rift valley and head down below sea-level to the shores of the Dead Sea before finally making our way through the Judean desert and on to Bethlehem and finally Jerusalem.
For anyone that enjoys really getting below the surface of a country, this must rank as one of the very best tours that we offer. Not only do we get to walk and talk with a whole range of Palestinians eager to share their stories, but by actually staying in some of their homes we also get the chance to experience a little of their daily life and their wonderful food -- this is not a trip for those looking to lose weight! In addition, for a trip which actually covers only a relatively small distance, the variety of the scenery and the sights is quite astounding. On one day we might find ourselves wandering through olive groves & deserted Roman hilltop towns and then having lunch with some refugees; on another we might pass Byzantine era churches in a desert wadi before having dinner with some Bedouin in their camp.
This is not a major trekking trip, but on most days there'll be at least 3-4 hrs of walking. And in fact many of the paths we take form part of the so-called Abraham Trail which National Geographic in 2014 voted as one of the world's best new walks. But, as with all our wild walks, there is a lot more to this trip just walking, and whether it's eating knafeh (a baked cheese dessert, drenched in syrup) from a street seller in Nablus souk, sampling a beer from Palestine's only micro-brewery in Taybeh or walking the millennia-old streets of Jerusalem's old city, this trip is guaranteed to leave you with many lifelong memories.
Despite having led trips all over the world, this trip remains one of my all-time favourites and I would unreservedly recommend the Wild Walk in Palestine to anyone looking for something which offers a glimpse into this rarely visited...and rarely understood, yet utterly welcoming and eternally fascinating part of the world.

ISRAEL - The Hermesh Caves Hike. מערות חרמש

Jacob the patriarch (later to be named Israel) died in the year 1745 B.C, he was in Egypt at the time together with his 12 sons (the 12 tribes if Israel), they were in Egypt because of a severe famine in land of Canaan.
His last wish was bury me with my father. His body was taken and buried at the Machpela cave in Hebron.
During the centuries Jews have always wanted to be buried the promised land, believing that during the Messianic Age the temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem and there will be a resurrection of the dead.
During Talmudic times (200 A.D.) some people in Israel had family tombs prepared for themselves and for further generations, natural caves or hewn chambers in rock were used for this purpose.
The Hermesh caves are just such burial chambers and many like them can be found all over Israel.
Today one can visit Kiryat Arba in Israel to the Machpela cave and see the place where the patriarchs of the Bible: Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Leah are buried.
Oh...and the trail is an easy 2.5 km loop one starting and ending at the parking area. (there is some climbing up and downhill).

Haifa Kiryon Mall: How Does It Feel Like, To Walk Through A Typical Shopping Center In Israel? 5.3K

Haifa Kiryon Mall: How Does It Feel Like, To Walk Through A Typical Shopping Center In Israel?
My simple walking trip - 10 minutes of 5.3K video with natural sound.

A short info for reference:
Real estate company Melisron Ltd controlled by Ofer Investments headed by Liora Ofer, owns twenty shopping malls and commercial centers around Israel through Ofer Malls. Their dominant in northern Israel complex Ofer HaKiryon, which includes shown in this video shopping mall Kiryon (or Ha-Kiryon / HaKiryon), is just one of these twenty. It was built and opened to the public at the end of February 1989. Including Shufersal supermarket, only the shopping space of this complex takes around 62,000 square meters. Another 27000 sqm are mostly in use by a courthouse, bank branches, medical center and services.
This shopping center and the whole complex is located near to the Haifa-Akko Highway #4 (official street address is 192 Acre Road), on the territory between Kiryat Bialik and Kiryat Motzkin which are both cities of the Haifa District, in the North of Israel.
The list of stores, restaurants and services available in this shopping center can be found following the link below:

The best of HAIFA: Bahá'í gardens and Stella Maris Monastery. Travel vlog from Israel!

******Available in HD******
Hi, everybody!
After a long break I'm coming back to you with a new travel vlog,
Today We're going to Haifa, Israel. We'll visit The Bahai Gardens, the most holy site of the Bahai faith, but that's not all!
LAter we'll take a cable car to Stella Maris Carmelite Monastery which was beautiful!
We ended our trip in Furajdis, an Arab town where we ate good, solid Palestinian food!
Link to the location of Furajdis:
Something about Haifa:
Haifa is Israel’s third largest city, beautifully set on the slopes of Mount Carmel facing the Mediterranean Sea, likened by some as ‘Israel’s San Francisco’. Although traditionally a working city, there are a number of great things to do in Haifa including the Bahai Gardens, German Colony, as well as a number of top museums. The city is also known across Israel for its mixed population of Jews and Arabs who peacefully coexist and the result is some amazing fusions of Arabic and Jewish cultures across the city.

Learn a bit about Bahai:
The Bahai Gardens is possibly the most distinct tourist attraction in all of Haifa, and is very likely the most visited. Every year, hundreds of thousands of tourists and locals alike travel to the Bahai Gardens on Mount Carmel in Haifa, the most holy site of the Bahai faith. Last year alone, 750,000 people enjoyed the beautiful terraces of the Bahai Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

And few words about Stella Maris:
The Bible tells us that the Prophet Elijah fought on Mount Carmel against prophets of the Baal (Canaanite deity). From then to this day, Carmel Mountain retains its religious significance. According to tradition, Elijah hid in the cave at the slopes of the sea star ridge. Nonetheless, the Carmelite Christians sanctified an additional cave at the top of the ridge and erected a large monastery above, which today constitutes their world centre.

Samaria is a historical and biblical name used for the central region of the ancient Land of Israel, bordered by Galilee to the north and Judaea to the south.[2][3] For the beginning of the Common Era, Josephus set the Mediterranean Sea as its limit to the west, and the Jordan River as its limit to the east.[3] Its territory largely corresponds to the biblical allotments of the tribe of Ephraim and the western half of Manasseh; after the death of Solomon and the splitting-up of his empire into the southern Kingdom of Judah and the northern Kingdom of Israel, this territory constituted the southern part of the Kingdom of Israel.[2] The border between Samaria and Judea is set at the latitude of Ramallah.[4]

The name Samaria is derived from the ancient city of Samaria, the second capital of the northern Kingdom of Israel.
