From delicious local food to cultural experiences and even some unexpected surprises, I managed to stretch my money way further than you'd expect -- seriously, the value for your money here is insane!
In this video, I explore the vibrant streets of Prizren, diving into the local culture and trying out some authentic Kosovar dishes that are packed with flavor but super cheap. You’ll see how far $10 goes when it comes to food, transportation, and even a little souvenir shopping.
Kosovo isn’t just about affordability, though. The culture, the people, and the unique blend of history and modernity make it one of the coolest places to visit in the Balkans. PRIZREN! KOSOVO'S MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY (Cultural Travel Guide to Prizren) #prizren #kosovo
Famous as the birthplace of the League of Prizren in the late 19th century, 21st century Prizren is arguably Kosovo's tourist capital. Thankfully, the Kosovo conflict left the historic core of Prizren largely intact and both visitors and locals can enjoy lazy walks by the river, crossing and re-crossing the ancient bridges and relaxing in the myriad of cafes. A late afternoon walk up to the Prizren Fortress allows for captivating views across the city to the mountains that border Albania and Macedonia.
In this film I provide a brief outline of the history of this historic trading city and, of course, the founding of the League of Prizren and its lasting legacy.
I stayed at the Hotel Prior which I would highly recommend for its location, friendly staff and delicious breakfasts!

Best Things To See In Pristina & Prizren Kosovo (Honest Video)
Well, here we are, an honest video, that I'm not exactly proud of, but also want to be honest and share all my experiences and not just the pretty or popular ones. Here is my experience about visiting Pristina and seeing the Library, statues, monuments etc.. and comparing it to Prizren with the medieval mosques, food, and ancient bridges. Travel teaches us to be better, do better, and open our minds to a different way of looking at things. That is what Kosovo did for me in the end. In this episode of DIY Travel Guide, we'll be exploring the world's newest country on a budget. The host Charles Huang will visit all the best FREE and must see attractions under three days. Starting in the nation's capital Pristina, we'll visit Mother Teresa Cathedral, The National Library of Kosovo, and the city's main street Mother Teresa Boulevard, along with many of statues such as Zahir Pajaziti and the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. In the Serbian part of Pristina, we'll visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Monastery Gračanica and Badovac Lake. In Peja, we'll check out both the historic Bazaar of Peja and another UNESCO listed religious site, Patriarchate of Peć, an Serbian Orthodox Church. Finally in Gjakova, we'll showcase the newly rebuilt of the Old Bazaar, along with it's Clock Tower and the 16th century Hadum Mosque. We'll also check out getting around inexpensively and easily by public transportation and the many local food such as Cevapi, Flija, Byrek, Kosovo Pizza and Turkish Dyner.

3. The largest lake in Kosovo. It is formed because of the dams of the river Ibar. Gazivoda lake is shared by Kosovo and Serbia and has an area of almost 12 square kilometres where 9 square kilometres is part of Kosovo. It has more than 100 meters deep and many marine animals and a variety of fishes are living here. The anaesthetic view can be seen from the areas outside the lake. Tourists always visit the lake for a tour.
2. Located in the west part of Kosovo that occupies an area of 624.88 square kilometres and was established in 2013 to create a new tourism site in the country. Cursed mountains are the meaning of Bjeshkët E Nemuna. It offers a green with various flowers and animals that live here, they also have a lovely river, attractive steam, and stunning hilly mountains with green plants and trees.
Sightseeing, fish catching, hiking, and mountain climbing are some activities that can be done in Bjeshkët E Nemuna. This national park is number one on the list of places to visit in Kosovo.
1. The largest city and the capital of Kosovo where most Albanian are living. It is a town that is rich in history with almost 20 monuments, some mosques, and churches from Ottoman and Byzantine ages. Also, they are the center of commerce, entertainment, and healthcare of Kosovo.
Gracanica Monastery from the 14th century and a UNESCO’s world heritage site, the majestic Kosovo Museum, the Ottoman Bath, clock tower, and public fountain are all part of Pristina. Local people love to enjoy festivals throughout the whole year in the city. Visiting local coffee shops, swimming pools, and shopping malls and tasting the local Peja beer while in the pubs are some activities that can be enjoyed in Pristina.

Prizren is a lively and colourful city in the south of Kosovo and is already a popular place for domestic as well as international tourism. I’ll explore the key attractions including the Sinan Pasha Mosque , a stone bridge crossing the Bistrica, a spirited shopping and dining street as well as take you back to my accommodation at the hotel Dennis for a quick tour. I’ll leave the glorious Prizren Fortress for another vlog.
In the shadows of the Sharr Mountains Prizren is a gripping place to explore. Outside the city the mountains and forests hide hiking trails and numerous outdoor activities whilst inside there is a blend of Ottoman influenced architecture and an array of mosques and monasteries. It felt good to ditch the car for a day and spend some time walking around.
The atmosphere and energy on the shopping and eating street was electric and it was great to see the old Market Square complete with a horse and cart.
The stone bridge is close by as is the mostly destroyed Arasta Mosque where just the lonely stonework of the minaret survives. I had better luck with the Sinan Pasha Mosque (Xhamia e Sinan Pashes) which although was damaged by bombing has been repaired and reopened. I was able to go inside and enjoy the interior design and see the dome which has been painted with floral designs and verses from the Koran.
I enjoyed my trip to Prizren and consider it a worthwhile stop on my road trip around Kosovo. It’s all subjective though so let me know what you think of the city in the comments – is it worth visiting or are there better places to spend your time in Kosovo?
