Debes visitar Barranquilla! Colombia #barranquilla #colombia #destinosturisticos
✈️🧳 🌍 Barranquilla in Colombia is wonderful!...you must know it!
Barranquilla is home to one of the most important folkloric and cultural festivities in Colombia, the Barranquilla Carnival, declared a Masterpiece of the Cultural Heritage of the Nation by the Congress of Colombia in 2001 and Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2003. .
Barranquilla, officially the Special, Industrial and Port District of Barranquilla, is the capital of the Atlántico department, Colombia. It is located on the western bank of the Magdalena River, 7.5 km from its mouth into the Caribbean Sea.
In 1993 it was constitutionally organized into a special, industrial and port district.
It is the main urban, cultural, political and economic center of the Caribbean region of Colombia; Among the main economic activities, commerce, driven by the river port located at the mouth of the Magdalena River, industry and services stand out.
The establishment of the city dates back to the third decade of the 17th century, when the sectors surrounding the Magdalena River began to be populated around grants granted by the Spanish Crown.
During the time of Independence, its inhabitants supported the independence cause, which is why it was erected as a town in 1813.
In the second half of the 19th century it acquired strategic and economic importance when steam navigation began along the Magdalena River, which allowed it to become the main export center of the country until the first half of the 20th century.
From the late 19th century until the 1930s, Barranquilla was the main entry point to Colombia for immigrants and advances such as aviation, commercial radio and telephony, as well as various sports.
The population of Barranquilla is 1,327,209 people, the fourth most populated city in the country after Bogotá, Medellín and Cali. The city is the nucleus of the Barranquilla Metropolitan Area, which is also made up of the municipalities of Soledad, Malambo, Galapa and Puerto Colombia. The conglomerate is home to 2,199,507 inhabitants, and occupies the fourth position among the country's conurbations.
As the departmental capital, Barranquilla is the seat of the Government of Atlántico, the Departmental Assembly and the Superior Court of Atlántico, the highest judicial body of the department.
The city was designated American Capital of Culture in 2013 and host of the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Artisanal Usiacuri, Colombia
Situated in the department of Atlantico near Barranquilla, Usiacuri is classed as one of the most peaceful towns in Colombia. It offers a unique photo opportunity of all the brightly coloured rooftops of the town below, complete with murals of tropical birds. This artisanal town is also known for producing handmade crafts from the iraca palm. A must-see stop if you’re looking for a typical relaxing Colombian pueblo.
Puerto Colombia Beach - The Playa of Barranquilla Atlantico
Walk on the beach of Puerto Colombia.
This is the beach of Barranquilla Atlantico, where many people living in the crowded city of Barranquilla go on the weekend.
This village has a muelle which is an old landing stage, which is dividing the beach in a left and right one. I walked both and think the left one is nicer.

Welcome to Colombia
We started our trip along the Colombian Caribbean coast in the department of Atlántico. The department is located in the Caribbean region, it limits to the north by the Caribbean Sea, to the east with the Magdalena River and to the west with the department of Bolívar. We visited its capital, Barranquilla, to learn about the most important folkloric and cultural events as the Carnaval de Barranquilla, declared Masterpiece of the oral and intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2003. We also visited the tropical dry forest Luriza, 6km from Usiacurí, In this reserve, 139 species of birds have been identified. 10 specimens of amphibians, 44 of reptiles, 122 of plants and 43 of mammals, among which the red howler monkey stands out. Finally, we finished the first part of our tour along the Colombian Caribbean coast at the club Lagos de Caujaral, an excellent private club where we had the chance to play some Caribbean golf and enjoy some Colombia birding.

Salgar to Puerto Colombia Atlántico, Colombia - Drone
#Barranquilla #PuertoColombia #Salgar Hello Again. Welcome to see with me Puerto Colombia, This is going to be a 9 Km round trip in 4 minutes!
The town enjoyed a glorious post-colonial period as the main port on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, where most European immigrants entered the country. In the second half of the 20th century, Puerto Colombia faced a rapid decline, eclipsed by Barranquilla, the capital of Atlántico and a new port: Bocas de Ceniza.
Thanks to recent free trade agreements with Canada, the United States of America and many European countries, the municipality has been included in Barranquilla's metropolitan area and its port
has undergone large-scale redevelopment. The focus of important public-private partnerships, Puerto Colombia is expected to regain its prominent role as the main sea port of Colombia within a decade.
This flight although was short, it started from Salgar Castle and the straight distance to the port is 4Km
I took off with a fully charged battery and when I arrived over the port, the remaining charge was 75%
I started shooting videos and at 70% of remaining charge, the drone ordered me return. I did it immediately!
I landed with 36% of remaining charge. I would stay more time, but the wind conditions also would change.
That mean flying against the wind forces the propellers and I might ended up landing “in the sea” forever!

Great River Pier Barranquilla, Colombia - Drone

01:38 B Atlantic
04:52 Great Pier
08:10 Barranquilla Skyline from Great Pier
09:55 Convention Centre Puerta de Oro
Hello Again. Welcome to see with me “The Great Pier”, located in Barranquilla, Atlántico, Colombia “Killa”
We start our flight watching sailing over Magdalena River this vessel: Fairchem Edge: An oil, chemical tanker.
It’s flag is from Marshall Island, with a gross tonnage of 11,917 and Dead weight of 19,900 tons.
Fairchem Edge was built in 2017 and its overall x breadth extreme are 146.5 x 24 meters.
Off course, flying over it may appear “small” but is 1.5 times the length of a soccer field.
This vessel has an average cruise speed of 12.1 knots or 22.4 km/h.
To the left we start watching B Atlantic a vessel bought by Gerdau Diaco to cut it in pieces and recycle the steel.
While we get back to B Atlantic, let’s enjoy a panoramic view of the Pier and beautiful Barranquilla skyline.
OK B Atlantic was sailing the seas until August 12, 2007 when it was confiscated by Venezuelan authorities.
By that time, It was moving coal under Caiman islands flag, commanded by Ukrainian captain Volodymyr Ustymenko.
He and second officer Yurliy Datchenko were condemned to nine years in jail because they had 128 Kg of drugs in the pope.
Eleven years after, Venezuelan government sold this ship to Colombia. Four tugboats moved it from Maracaibo to Barranquilla.
B Atlantic was built in 1983 and it’s 183 meters length and could transport up to 28 tons of brute load.
During it’s life span it had different names: Ming Jade, Ming Yu, Markos N, Costas in year 2000 and B Atlantic since 2005.
Before being cut, the vessel must have a degasification process to avoid toxicity in the air.
While tie vessel was in Michellmar pier, the owners also completed the legal process to “remove the flag” from the ship.
This is a formal protocol to remove the records worldwide an the ship operation.
The registration IMO / MMSI is cancelled to end all operations. This is a process to do when a vessel is decommissioned.
I thought it was a touristic attraction… maybe you too if you already where there before!
The great pier of Barranquilla: It’s a two Km of finished pier, three more km are expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
A food court is almost complete, under the name “El Caimán de río” it will host about 23 restaurants.
So, visitors should have a nice meal while contemplate Magdalena River and Salamanca island.
While we move south, the great new Pumarejo Bridge is visible to your upper right. Click in the card up to see it closer!
Huge vessels constantly sail over Magdalena river to load or unload oil, chemicals, coal, containers. So far up to Pumarejo bridge.
But soon, those huge ships will be able to transport heavy loads beyond Pumarejo bridge limits.
Here we can also see a sports complex with hard and synthetic courts, and a children playground. This place is almost complete.
So far, about 5 million people have visited this new pier. More people are expected, making the most popular place in Colombia.
Now we start turning right to move from south to north while we appreciate the beautiful Barranquilla skyline as background.
This is a 5Km journey in less than 30 seconds. Please hold on while you fasten your seat belt!
Now, let’s fly straight over the pier while we turn left and contemplate a new Barranquilla panorama.
While we admire the skyline and immensity of Barranquilla, I have to say Magdalena also complement the beauty this place.
Here we are now flying over Convention Centre and some of the finished facilities of the great pier.
If you plan visit Barranquilla or you already live there, I highly recommend sit there on the steps and contemplate a sunset!
The Convention Centre “Puerta de Oro” has a capacity of 31,892 people and up to 16,000 on a single pavilion.
May someone tell me if the green roof is an incomplete work, or it was removed after a storm. Please leave a comment.
On April 7, 2017, the Convention Centre was inaugurated by then President Juan Manuel Santos.
Reaching the end of the video, I would like to thank my viewers for watching it and I hope see you all on the next
