It stretches from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to the Storms River which is crossed along the N2 coastal highway over the Paul Sauer Bridge in the extreme western reach of the neighbouring Eastern Cape. The name comes from the verdant and ecologically diverse vegetation encountered here and the numerous lagoons and lakes dotted along the coast. It includes towns such as Mossel Bay, Knysna, Oudtshoorn, Plettenberg Bay and Nature's Valley; with George, the Garden Route's largest city and main administrative centre.

We explore the beaches of Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route in the Western Cape South Africa. Plettenberg Bay is truly blessed with more Blue Flag beaches than most countries. But the beautiful beaches are only the start. The beaches are also home to great stories, hotels, restaurants, and much more.
Beacon Island hotel is home to the old whaling station, and a modern hotel designed after the Guggenheim museum. History is everywhere and one great story about a stranded ship and poison pepper gas is fascinating.
The food everywhere along Central Beach is fantastic, but we went for the seafood platter for two and were very happy with our choice.
If you are longing for long sandy beaches, a perfect swimming area, lounging in the sun, or eating awesome food, Plettenberg Bay beaches have got you covered, worth a great day out, or every day of your holiday out. Luck locals.
