Dubbo, Parkes, Forbes, Deniliquin (NSW country towns)
Our original plans were to visit some of the towns down the middle of New South Wales and see what we find. Nature defied us and sent one of the worst rain systems in 100 years so we were limited on where we could go and how far we could venture off the main roads, you will see that we had to turn back a couple of times.
We had wonderful stays in the bigger country towns along the Newell Highway right down the middle of NSW. Checked out the plane museums, car museums and Elvis museum.
Hope you like it as much as we did.

Parkes, Bathurst & Lake Wallace NSW: Series 06 E02 Road TripLap of Australia
After our Tamworth to Dubbo road trip, we continue down through country NSW.
We were fascinated to visit The Dish in Parkes and learn about the role it plated in the Apollo Missions. We experienced a local dust storm whilst avoiding the fires that were burning across the state.
Onwards, our goal was to cut a lap of the Mt Panorama track at Bathurst. The van was looking good on the straight, unfortunately the rest of the track was closed for an event. The National Motor Museum was awesome to visit and pick our favourite vehicles.
Finally, although we had loved out time in country towns, it was so good to get back into nature and enjoy a few days by the lake at Lake Wallace free camp.

Video 846 Drone Footage, video and photos from the Parkes Observatory (The Dish)
DashCam video from Australia. This provides you with the ability to virtually drive in Australian. In this video we visit the Parkes Astronomy Radio Telescope, which is located in a field between the towns of Peak Hill and Parkes. It is often referred to as The Dish due to the movie that was made about it's historic participation in the moon landing back in july 1969. The movie was released back in 2000. I've put a link to the movie trailer below. It's well worth the visit to see the dish and learn more about radio astronomy. This video has some drone footage to give you an idea of it's surroundings, I also have a bit of hand held video from the visitor centre and the dish, plus a number of photos. At the end I included a video where my wife and I experiment with the transmission of sound between to parabolic dishes over a distance. You can see how well that works!

Parkes Observatory, Australia: Journey to the Stars
Embark on a journey to the stars at The Dish, Parkes Observatory in Australia. Explore the wonders of the universe and learn about the incredible work being done at this renowned observatory.
Now, let's uncover another of Australia's hidden treasures: The Dish at Parkes Observatory, just outside of the charming town of Parkes, nestled in the picturesque farming landscapes of New South Wales.
This iconic landmark beckons travellers from far and wide to marvel at its awe-inspiring presence and delve into the mysteries of the cosmos. As you stand beneath the vast expanse of the dish, you'll feel a sense of wonder wash over you, knowing that this remarkable structure has played a pivotal role in humanity's quest to explore the universe. With its rich history and scientific significance, the Parkes Observatory promises an unforgettable experience that will leave you with lasting memories of your adventure Down Under.
Entering the visitor centre, I was greeted by a wealth of information about the history and significance of The Dish. Exhibits detailing its role in transmitting the historic Apollo 11 moon landing broadcast and its ongoing contributions to astronomy sparked my fascination even further. Venturing outside, I stood beneath the colossal dish, marvelling at its sheer magnitude. With each turn, the dish scanned the skies, listening to the whispers of the universe.
Visiting The Dish was a profound reminder of humanity's endless quest to understand the mysteries of the cosmos.
