The town was founded in the late 1940s. The name is probably derived from a type of sea shell, Remis, which has a greyish shell and is easily crushed. It lies on the estuary of the Bruas River, and it is believed that the once prosperous Hindu Kingdom of Gangga Negara's port of entry was here. The Bruas tree which is no longer found in Bruas can still be found growing in Pengkalan Baru.
Pantai Remis is a commercial district that serves as the heartland for the surrounding towns as far north as Terong on Highway A101; to the south to Segari on Highway 60; to the south-east to Kampong Baru Sungai Batu, Kampong Batu Dua Belas, Kampong Melayu and Changkat Keruing on Highway A12. Rubber, palm oil, rice, sugar cane and fishing are the major industries in this town.

今天去班台很出名的美食中心吃晚餐
这里聚集了许多道地人吃的晚餐
尤其是这里很出名的【烧海鲜】和【鸭粥】
也是这里独有的美食
海鲜很新鲜，吃进嘴里就可以感受到海鲜的鲜甜味
鸭粥用的烧鸭是用碳烤的

For dinner, there are also unique seafood dishes. Today, we went to the famous food court in Pantai Remis to have dinner. It's a gathering place for many locals to have dinner, especially known for its grilled seafood and duck congee, which are unique delicacies here.
The seafood is very fresh, and when you take a bite, you can immediately taste the freshness and sweetness of the seafood. The duck congee is made with charcoal-grilled duck.

Pantai Remis beach at Jeram in Selangor is a waterfront beach that is popular with the villagers that come here in huge numbers during the weekends and public holidays. If you are travelling from Kuala Selangor towards Klang, you will pass by Sungai Buluh town before reaching this beach. There isn't much sea sports activities here as the water is muddy and murky.
The peoples come here for a time of recreation and food with family members and friends. You will see children and their fathers flying kites as this beach is quite windy. Traders take this opportunity to sell kites to those who did not bring their own kites.
Many fishing enthusiasts will try their fortune by casting their baits toward the sea hoping to get some fish. These are some of the ways you can spend some quality time with your children without having to spend too much money.
