पीलीभीत भारतीय के उत्तर प्रदेश प्रांत का एक जिला है, जिसका मुख्यालय पीलीभीत है। इस जिले की साक्षरता - ६१% है, समुद्र तल से ऊँचाई -१७१ मीटर और औसत वर्षा - १४०० मि. मी. है।
पीलीभीत में पीलीभीत टाइगर रिर्जव है जहां आप कई राजसी पशुओं को देख सकते है। इसके अलावा, यहां कई प्राकृतिक स्थल है जिनमें गोमट ताल, देवहा - घाघरा संगम और राजा वेनू का टीला शामिल है। यहां एक तट भी है जिसे चुका तट के नाम से जाना जाता है जो महोफ वन रेंज में आता है। इस तट से सूर्यास्त का मनोरम दृश्य देखने का अनोखा मजा है।
जिले के नाम की उत्पत्ति “पीली+भीत” से हुई है. स्थानीय भाषा में “भीत” का अर्थ होता है-“मिट्टी का दीवार”. कहा जाता है कि पहले यह जिला पीली मिट्टी के दीवार से चारों तरफ से घिरा हुआ था, इसी कारण जिले का नाम पीलीभीत पड़ा.
