The term in its wider sense refers to that part of the Eastern #Alps that lies on #Bavarian state territory. However, it is traditionally understood that the Bavarian Alps are only those ranges between the rivers Lech and Saalach (Altbayern). In this narrower sense, the #Allgäu Alps in Swabia, which have only been part of Bavaria in more recent times, and the Berchtesgaden Alps in the east are not considered part of the Bavarian Alps.
The term is frequently used, but does not correspond to the common classification of the Eastern Alps (AVE) developed by the German, Austrian and South Tyrol Alpine Clubs. It should not be confused with the term Bavarian Prealps either. The latter only covers the Bavarian section of the Prealps between the River Loisach in the west and the River Inn in the east.
According to the Italian Partizione Delle Alpi classification, the Bavarian Alps (Alpi Bavaresi) comprise the Allgäu and Lechtal Alps as well as the adjacent #Achen #Lake mountains.

Fellhorn, one of the most amazing viewpoints in the Allgäu Alps, Germany
The Fellhorn is a 2037 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Allgäu Alps near Oberstdorf. Its summit is on the Austrian-German border between Kleinwalsertal and Stillachtal. It is one of the flower mountains of the Allgäu Alps and is known for its large fields of alpine roses.

#Sonthofen is the southernmost town of Germany, located in the #Oberallgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. Neighbouring Oberstdorf is situated 14 km farther south but is not classified as a town. In 2005, Sonthofen was awarded #Alpenstadt des Jahres (Alpine city of the year). The town has 21,300 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2015).
Sonthofen is widely known for its milk and cheese products and as a tourist destination.

Hallo und Willkommen zu einem neuen Video von Adventure Nature Ambience. Heute möchte ich euch eins meiner neuen Videos zeigen welches ich im Oberallgäu gefilmt habe. Ihr seht einen stürmischen Spaziergang durch Balderschwang. Dies ist der höchste und zugleich schneereichste Ort in Deutschland. Er liegt an der Grenze zu Österreich und ist circa 1200 Höhenmeter hoch. Während des Spaziergang fielen Massen an Schnee. Der Schneefall hielt noch 2 Tage an und somit kamen über 1 Meter Neuschnee hinzu. Abonniert gerne den Kanal um weiterhin nichts zu verpassen. Ein Daumen nach oben wäre ebenfalls toll!

Full tour through the Basilica and Benedictine Abbey of OTTOBEUREN at the Allgäu region. (Germany)
Welcome to a new video here at the Allgäu region after a while. For today's video I thought a tour through to the village Ottobeuren must be and there especially to visit the famous Basilica both its Benediktiner Abbey. Find out more in my video what is happened to see at a small and more unknown village but with a large Basilica and Abbey.
The trip to Ottobeuren and its Benediktiner Abbey: I visited Ottobeuren at a day in wintertime 2024. I'm a big fan of the Allgäu region and knew the Basilica and Abbey from the past. I went step by step into the Basilica and after them to some floors behind the main hall of the church. The Abbey had a high number of floors and rooms to see. But nearly all floors where empty and quiet like a Abbey have to be. After my tour into the Basilica and Abbey I explained what is also good to experience here at Ottobeuren. Good to taste is the food in restaurants around the marking place and for sweet food lovers the famous Allgäu Windbeutel. The full trip was a comeback to the Allgäu region after one year.
About the Allgäu region: The Allgäu region is an area at the south part of Germany at the west part of the federal state Bavaria in front of the Bavarian Alps. The Allgäu begun at the big lake called “Bodensee” at the west part and has its end at the “Hoher Peißenberg” next to the town Schongau. At the north part the Allgäu has its end around the town Landberg am Lech. The region is known for its beautiful view to the mountains, the original brown cows and for some kind of food. The capital is the town called Kempten. The region has also an Airport at Memmingen which is also known as the Munich west Airport. Many of the German people use the Allgäu region for going on holyday and the people who live there for the farmer industry.
Ottobeuren and its Basilica both the Benediktiner Abbey: Ottobeuren is a town at the middle part of the Allgäu region next to the town Memmingen. The small town has a population of 8790 together with all districts and counties. The building which Ottobeuren is famous for is its large Benedictine Abbey with its Basilica. The inside hall of the Basilica is a typical Rococo style and complete with the buildings of the Abbey. The area is used sometimes for concerts from the Bavarian TV, weddings as well. The Abbey, the Basilica are one of the biggest buildings at the entire Allgäu region.
