Taybeh Brewery in Ramallah, Palestinian Territories

Taybeh Brewery is a Palestinian brewery founded in 1994. The brewery is in the West Bank village of Taybeh, 35 kilometres north of Jerusalem in Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate. It produced its first beer in 1995 and has since developed a global following. It is the first microbrewery in the Middle East.
Taybeh Brewery was co-founded in 1994, shortly after the signing of the first Oslo Accords in 1993, by Nadim Khoury and his brother David. It has been described as a pioneer microbrewery in the region, having predated the first Israeli microbrewery, The Dancing Camel, by about ten years. It is also considered by the Khoury brothers and others to be the first Palestinian brewery.

The Khoury brothers grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, where their family ran a liquor store. As a college student in the 1980s at Hellenic College in Brookline, Nadim began making his own beer in the basement of the dorm where he lived. He subsequently took up formal studies in brewing at UC Davis in California, eventually graduating with a master's degree.
n 1997, Taybeh beer became the first Palestinian product to be franchised in Germany, where it was brewed and bottled for sale in Europe. Taybeh beer is also exported to Sweden and Japan, and is sold in the United Kingdom.

In 2005, an annual Oktoberfest-style beer festival was launched. Dubbed the Taybeh Beer Festival, it opens in the beginning of October.

In 2008, an Australian named Lara van Raay produced a documentary called Palestine, Beer and Oktoberfest Under Occupation, which focuses on the Taybeh Brewery and the Khoury family.

The Taybeh Brewing Company was highlighted in the January/February 2010 Issue of the fine beverage publication Mutineer Magazine.

In 2012, Taybeh opened a winery, which produces Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon red wines. The winery, which was established with the help of an Italian winemaker, has been run by Nadim Khoury's son Canaan since he graduated from Harvard in 2013 with an engineering degree.

In 2017, Taybeh beer and wine became available in the United States for the first time. The first American store to sell Taybeh was Foley's, the liquor store that the Khoury family ran before founding Taybeh Brewery, though their beer is sold in other stores around Massachusetts and in Rhode Island. Taybeh had been attempting to sell their beer in America since at least 2005, when it was first approved for sale in the US, but have faced obstacles to doing so. One barrier to Taybeh's entry into the US was that the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau's rules against false or misleading statements on labels prevented them from branding their beer as Product of Palestine, as they do in other countries. As a result, Taybeh is sold in the US as Product of the West Bank.

As of 2018, Taybeh is still available in Israeli bars and clubs. However, sale of it and other Palestinian beers remains controversial, to the point where some on the Israeli political right have called for boycotting it. As of 2017, 60% of Taybeh's sales are in Israel and the West Bank, down from 70% in the West Bank alone in 2010.

Beauty of Tel Aviv, Israel 4K| World in 4K

World in 4K presents you beauty of Tel Aviv, the most populous city in the Gush Dan metropolitan area of Israel. Located on the Israeli Mediterranean coastline and with a population of 460,613, it is the economic and technological center of the country. If East Jerusalem is considered part of Israel, Tel Aviv is the country's second most populous city after Jerusalem; if not, Tel Aviv is the most populous city ahead of West Jerusalem.

ISRAEL - The Hermesh Caves Hike. מערות חרמש

Jacob the patriarch (later to be named Israel) died in the year 1745 B.C, he was in Egypt at the time together with his 12 sons (the 12 tribes if Israel), they were in Egypt because of a severe famine in land of Canaan.
His last wish was bury me with my father. His body was taken and buried at the Machpela cave in Hebron.
During the centuries Jews have always wanted to be buried the promised land, believing that during the Messianic Age the temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem and there will be a resurrection of the dead.
During Talmudic times (200 A.D.) some people in Israel had family tombs prepared for themselves and for further generations, natural caves or hewn chambers in rock were used for this purpose.
The Hermesh caves are just such burial chambers and many like them can be found all over Israel.
Today one can visit Kiryat Arba in Israel to the Machpela cave and see the place where the patriarchs of the Bible: Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Leah are buried.
Oh...and the trail is an easy 2.5 km loop one starting and ending at the parking area. (there is some climbing up and downhill).

*WHY 8MM & SUPER8 HOME MOVIE ARCHIVAL FOOTAGE IS IMPORTANT?*
Old Family films shot on 8mm/super8 (sometimes even on 16mm or 35mm) are an invaluable collection of unseen personal testimonies from our history.
Unfortunately, the condition of these film reels is often dramatic, as they are stored in inadequate places and handed down to individuals who don’t know how to project them.
At Archival Footage Service, we strive to build an archive of family films that is accessible to everyone through our YouTube channel.

Salfit on bike | سلفيت عالبسكليت

Palestine on Bike
This is the third video I make for my new series Palestine on Bike. In this video, I visited Salfit, a Palestinian city in the central West Bank, and several villages in the district.
Salfit city is known for its cultivation of grape and fig vines and its ancient wine presses which are used
in the present day. The word “Salfit” consists of two syllables; “Sal” meaning baskets and “Fit” meaning
grapes. Others say that Fit means bread which means land of goodness and blessing due to an abundance of water springs in the area; Salfit has over 100 water springs.
The Salfit district is bordered from the north with one of the biggest Israeli settlements in the West Bank. One of the biggest issues facing the city is the untreated waste water being disposed in Wadi Matwi from the illegal settlement of Ariel and Salfit due to lack of proper sewage network.

Rozana 5th Heritage week - 2012

Historic area of Birzeit Town -- Ramallah Governorate -- State of Palestine
27 June -- 1 July 2012

It is an annual event that aims at supporting the development of rural Palestine utilizing the principle of participation and partnership promoting rural towns as a rich source of heritage, civilization and tourism on the map of Palestine. The Heritage Week is a prototype for what this historic area could become throughout the year; an active society and cultural area that can attract visitors from nearby as well as afar and contribute to building and spreading heritage as a living example of archeological heritage that is being rehabilitated for use in social, scientific and cultural projects bringing revenue, which contributes to creating job opportunities and income sources for Palestinian youth in rural areas.

As part of its cultural and heritage domain, the Rozana Association initiated the annual Birzeit Heritage Week, which has become an important part of Palestine's summer activities. Heritage Week attracts thousands of people every year to the historic area of Birzeit with musical performances, folkloric dances, theatre plays, children's activities and games, and various artistic exhibitions, including handcrafts, Palestinian embroidery, agricultural products, and many other art and culinary exhibitions, including an international court where different participating nationalities display their heritage and identity. The streets of Birzeit celebrate this event with the heritage theme My Country ... My Heritage as it becomes one of the icons of Palestinian cultural scene.

Through the celebration of Heritage Week, Rozana aims to revive authentic Palestinian traditions and cultural heritage in order to raise awareness concerning their importance as fundamental pillars for future development. Every year The Heritage Week brings a number of new additions to the bundle of activities prepared to make everyone's visit as enjoyable as possible.
