8. Go For an Island-Hopping Tour We did a day trip by longtail boat, covering 4 islands. There were multiple stops for swimming and snorkeling and a stop at Railay Beach.

7. Hike the Wat Tham Sua Sitting right outside of Krabi Town, the Tiger Cave Temple is certainly worth a visit. Most visitors come to climb the 1,260 steps to the top of the hill.
6. Explore Thung Teao Forest Natural Park There is a short boardwalk trail that takes you to three different pools in the middle of the jungle: Crystal Pool, Emerald Pool, and the Blue Pool.

Chiang Mai is located in the northwest of Thailand. We highlight the best things to do in & around Chiang Mai:
10. Eat the traditional dish Khao Soi This creamy yellow curry noodle soup comes with a choice of chicken or beef, and you can find it in nearly any restaurant in the Chiang Mai.
9. Tour the Buddhist Temples of the old town There are over 300 Buddhist temples in Chiang Mai and many of them are located inside the historic old town, including Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chiang Man, Wat Phan Tao, and Wat Chedi Luang.
8. Visit an elephant sanctuary We visited Elephant Nature Park near Chiang Mai, a sanctuary that is committed to education and rehabilitation of elephants that have been abused by the tourism industry.

7. Join a cooking class We joined a half-day cooking class, during which we prepared 3 different dishes; a Thai soup, a curry, and Pad Thai. For each dish, there were different options to choose from for your proteins and flavors.

6. Cruise down the Mae Ping River The Mae Ping River is the main river running through Chiang Mai and offers a quick escape from the city. You can rent a kayak and cruise down yourself or join a 2 hour boat tour that takes you past beautiful scenery around Chiang Mai.

5. Day tour to Doi Inthanon National Park Home to Thailand’s highest mountain, Doi Inthanon National Park is about a 1.5 hour drive from the city. The park is filled with beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails, viewpoints, and twin pagodas near the summit.

4. Shop at the local Talat Warorot This historic market opened in the early 20th century and is a great place to buy clothes, souvenirs, local food and spices. Open daily from 6am to 7pm.
3. Visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep The sacred Doi Suthep temple is about 15 km or 9 miles outside of Chiang Mai. The temple also offers beautiful views of the city and the surrounding area.
2. Drive the Samoeng loop This 100km or 62 miles route is a pretty easy ride with spectacular views winding through the Mae Sa Valley and the Samoeng Forest. We recommend making a few stops along the way: the Mae Sa waterfalls, botanical gardens, and the Samoeng viewpoint.
1. Chiang Mai Sunday Night Market The largest market in Chiang Mai is the Sunday Night Market. Starting from the Tha Pae Gate, the market runs along the entire length of the Ratchadamnoen Road from 5pm until around 10.30pm. It’s also possible to visit the Saturday Night Market or the Chang Puak Gate Market on any other day of the week.

Visiting Thailand's STRANGEST Statue Park (+Trying Famous Vietnamese Spring Rolls In Nong Khai)
In this video we visit Thailand’s STRANGEST statue park (at least according to us). It’s called Sala Keo Ku and it’s located near Nong Khai in Isan. We then also try Nong Khai’s famous Vietnamese spring rolls at a popular restaurant called Daeng Namnuang. This was a really fun day!
Sala Keo Ku statue park was founded by a mystic from Laos called Luang Pu. Construction started in 1978 and the park took 20 years to build. The hundreds of statues that are up to 25m high reflect Luang Pu's spiritual philosophy and wisdom that he wanted to convey to his followers. Walking around in this park is a super cool experience, as there are many interesting statues to discover.

Our second destination on our trip to Esan was the border town of Nong Khai. It was basically a rest stop over and we didn't see a lot. However it was enough to make us want to put this town on our return list. The peace bridge is in Nong Khai and is an entry point to Laos. Unfortunately there are to many travel restrictions at this time.
