Germany's Most Beautiful City (Hamburg): 10€ Sightseeing Challenge
In this video we're exploring Hamburg, Germany, which is our home town and known by many as the most beautiful city in the world (ok – mainly by people from Hamburg, but it really is a very beautiful city). We've set ourselves the challenge of crafting a sightseeing tour through Hamburg with a budget of only 10€, while still covering nice views, important sights, transportation local food and drinks. Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and definitely worth a visit if you're planning a trip to Germany!
We forgot to mention this important information: you can visit the Elbphilharmonie Plaza for free if you buy the tickets directly at the ticket counter. If you're going on a weekend the queues can be long though and tickets are limited – that's why we wanted to show you the option of booking your slot online (although it did cost 2€, which may not have been the smartest decision in a budget video 😁).

▶ Neumünster (from Wikipedia) Neumünster is a city in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. With more than 79,000 registered inhabitants, it is the fifth-largest municipality in Schleswig-Holstein (behind Kiel, Lübeck and Flensburg). The first historic record of the precursor village Wippendorf dates from 1127. The name refers to a new monastery Novum Monasterium built by the bishop Vicelinus. Since 1903 Neumünster is a so-called independent city (Kreisfreie Stadt) as it is not part of a district (Kreis). The city was protested by the Rural People's Movement as part of a farmers' protest movement in northern Germany from 1928 to 1933, which was the basis for Hans Fallada's novel A Small Circus (Bauern, Bonzen und Bomben). The city's Hans Fallada Prize is named after him. The Schleswig-Holstein NSDAP was founded in 1925 by Hinrich Lohse and received much support. On Kristallnacht in 1938, all Jewish men were arrested and sent to KZ Sachsenhausen. During World War 2, Neumünster was bombed multiple times by Allied forces in 1945, partly because of its importance as a railway junction and industrial city. The British took control of the City in May 1945. In the fall of 1946, the state of Schleswig-Holstein was founded and post-war Neumünster held its first municipal election. Neumünster used to be a hub for the textile industry, seeing a lot of success in the 1970s. However, the industry eventually left the city and Neumünster's last cloth factory closed in the beginning of the 1990s. Neumünster station is a major railway junction with lines running in six (formerly seven) directions, including the important Hamburg-Altona–Kiel and Neumünster–Flensburg lines. Near Neumünster at Ehndorf, there is a high-power medium wave transmission facility for transmitting the programmes of Deutschlandfunk, the Ehndorf transmitter, which is often named incorrectly as Neumünster transmitter. The city has an airfield and a hospital. The utility company, Stadtwerke Neumünster (SWN), also manages local inter-city bus routes.
▶ Rencks Park (translated from Wikipedia) Rencks Park is a park area in the center of Neumünster, Germany. It was built in 1857 at the banks of Schwale River as a private park. In 1870, the park was made public by Hans Lorenz Renck and Pauline Renck, children of the initial founder Detlev Anton Renck. Hans Lorenz Renck is still present in the park as a stone monument, and many more monuments and artistic sculptures can be found here. Today Rencks Park is the most prominent urban park in Neumünster.

The Neumünster Collegiate church is a collegiate church in Würzburg, Germany. The church dates back to 1065. In 1060 Adalbero of Würzburg built a church with a nave and aisles and two choirs in Romanesque style.
From 1180 to 1250 the church was renovated and its eastern section was expanded. The Romanesque west choir was demolished, and from 1711 to 1716 Josef Greising built the west façade in Baroque style.
From 1725 the interior was redesigned in the baroque style by the brothers Johann Baptist Zimmermann and Dominikus Zimmermann. In the Second World War, the church was damaged. From 1945 to 1952 the interior was restored.
