Larkana travel guide Today I will take you on a journey in the world of tourism. In Larkana, a famous district of Sindh province of Pakistan, this city has a unique historical and political status. Former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto were also from Larkana district. Larkana is a famous city in Sindh province of Pakistan which is also a district in Sindh. Sindh is the fourth largest city in terms of population. While it has the honor of being the 15th largest city of Pakistan. According to the 2017 census, the total population of Larkana is 490,508 people. The city has a population of 6,000 people per square kilometer. The total population of the district is 1.54 million. The total area of Larkana city is 82 square kilometers while its metropolitan area is spread over 1906 square kilometers. Larkana is situated at an altitude of 441 feet above sea level. Former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Actress Soha Ali Obero and Fog Singer Abida Parveen are also from Larkana. It is believed that the Mohenjo-daro civilization existed here 2500 years before the birth of Jesus, from which it is estimated that four thousand four hundred and fifty years ago there were highly civilized people living in the Indus Valley. Mohenjo-daro is located at a distance of 7 km from Dokri railway station in Larkana district. Mohenjo-daro means Dela of the Dead. The city was discovered in 1922 during excavations started by Surgeon Marshall under the Archaeological Survey of India, which uncovered thousands of closed secrets of history. Mohenjo-daro is known as a modern and civilized city that thousands of years ago was considered a center of modern conveniences and incredible skills. The people of this city were engaged in agriculture and trade. Larkana district is located on the west bank of the river Indus. Jacobabad district in the north, Shikarpur district in the northeast, Khairpur district in the east, Kambar Shahdab Kot district in the west and Nowshera district in the south, which borders Feroz and Tadu districts. District Larkana consists of four tehsils, including Tehsil Larkana, Tehsil Bakrani, Tehsil Radodero and Tehsil Dokri. Sindhi is the most widely spoken language in Larkana district, comprising men and 48.9% women. Other languages spoken are Urdu, Seraiki, Punjabi and Balochi. More than 95% of the population of Larkana district is Muslim and the rest of the population is Hindu and Christian. Larkana is a desert region with extreme heat and mild cold. Temperatures can reach up to 53 degrees Celsius. The average annual rainfall in Larkana is only 127.4 mm. The highest rainfall was recorded here in 1994. 524 mm was recorded while the lowest rainfall in Larkana district was recorded in 1938 at 7.1 mm.

Mohenjo Daro
Mohenjo-daro (Sindhi for Mound of the Dead Men) is an archaeological site in the province of Sindh, Pakistan.
Mohenjo-daro is located west of the Indus River in Larkana District, Sindh, Pakistan, in a central position between the Indus River and the Ghaggar-Hakra River.
It is sited on a Pleistocene ridge in the middle of the flood plain of the Indus River Valley, around 28 kilometres (17 miles) from the town of Larkana.
The ridge was prominent during the time of the Indus Valley Civilization, allowing the city to stand above the surrounding flood, but subsequent flooding has since buried most of the ridge in silt deposits.
The Indus still flows east of the site, but the Ghaggar-Hakra riverbed on the western side is now dry. Mohenjo-daro was built in the 26th century BCE. It was one of the largest cities of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, also known as the Harappan Civilization, which developed around 3,000 BCE from the prehistoric Indus culture.
It was one of the largest settlements of the ancient Indus Valley civilization, and one of the world's earliest major cities, contemporaneous with the civilizations of ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Minoan Crete, and Norte Chico.
Mohenjo-daro was abandoned in the 19th century BCE as the Indus Valley Civilization declined, and the site was not rediscovered until the 1920s.
Significant excavation has since been conducted at the site of the city, which was designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980.
The site is currently threatened by erosion and improper restoration.
