If you are in the Nairobi area, and are looking for some epic day trips, look no further. We have put together what we think are the top three things to do in Naivasha and Nakuru, which are both a short drive away from Nairobi.

But Nairobi isn't where the fun ends, there are tons of things to do in Kenya! A short drive away from Nairobi is Naivasha, and that is where our adventure begins.
The first thing to do on our list is going on a boat safari on lake Naivasha. This truly is an unmissable experience that anyone that lives, or is visiting Kenya needs to try! You go out on a small motor boat, and tour the lake. There is amazing wildlife all around the lake, and we sailed between hippos and buffalo and even saw a fish eagle make a catch!
Second on our list is going for a safari in Nakuru. A little further away from Nairobi, but for sure worth the drive. Nakuru national park is has lake Nakuru at its centre. It is an incredibly unique experience to go on safari around one of Africa's great lakes! While the flamingos that made this lake famous are mostly gone, this still has to be really high on a list of what to do in Kenya.
The final thing on our list, is something that most Kenya's did in school, which is to hike Mount Longonot. We released a full travel vlog of the experience here:
This hike is unbelievably beautiful, seeing a creator from the rim is a special experience and has to be one of the best hikes we've ever done

2. Amboseli National Reserve - There are dry areas that resemble deserts, especially in the dry season. Then there are marshes and tropical landscapes, with plenty of acacia trees in the park. The backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro is amazing, although you can't be guaranteed visibility at all times.

Lake Naivasha, approximately one hundred kilometres distant from the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, is the larger of two extraordinary freshwater lakes within the Rift Valley. Lake Naivasha covers an area of two hundred and fifty square kilometres. Its waters are cold but with a maximum depth of only fifteen metres relatively shallow.The biosphere of Lake Naivasha is of great ecological importance for the wildlife of Rift Valley and the landscape is of particular interest to ornithologists. To date around three hundred and fifty bird species have been recorded, among them rare and spectacular varieties such as Marabus and Cormorants.The lake's huge quantities of fish attract a large number of seabirds, most notably the Pelican that has seemed to have taken a liking to this the second largest freshwater lake in Kenya. The nesting places along the shores of Lake Naivasha are mostly located high up in the trees and are very popular with both the indigenous birds and also many migratory varieties.This region became world famous after Joy Adamson a British artist and nature conservationist, wrote a famous book about lions that was subsequently made into a film, Elsa The Lioness.
