गंगा मंदिर भरतपुर (Ganga temple Bharatpur)
भरतपुर के लगभग मध्य में स्थित गंगा मंदिर अपने सोंदर्य की अनोखी मिशाल हैं ऐसा कहा जाता है कि वर्ष 1845 में महाराजा बलवंत सिंह ने इस मंदिर नीव रखी, इस मंदिर बनाने के लिए करीब 9 दशकों का समय लगा, मंदिर का निर्माणकार्य पूरा होने के बाद राज परिवार के पांचवें वंशज महाराज कर्नल सवाई ब्रजेन्द्र सिंह ने मंदिर में देवी गंगा की मूर्ति रखी। यह उस समय से है कि इस मंदिर को गंगा मंदिर के रूप में जाना जाने लगा।

लोहागढ़ किला ( Lohagarh fort Bharatpur )
18 वीं शताब्दी में जाट शासकों द्वारा निर्मित, लोहागढ़ किला राजस्थान में बेहतरीन वास्तुकला में से एक है। यह किला इतिहास में बने सबसे मजबूत महल में से एक है जिसे जीत पाना किसी के लिए सम्भब नही हुआ, किले पर कई बार हमले हुए लेकिन इस किले के आगे कोई नही टिका यहाँ तक कि ब्रिटिश शासक इसे जीतने में कभी सक्षम नहीं हुए। किले के चारो तरफ जाट शासकों ने गहरी खाई बनवाई गई जिसमे उन्होंने पानी भरवाया, जिसे हम सुजान गंगा के नाम से जानते हैं ये जाट राजाओ के युद्ध कोशल साहस और बुद्धि का वेजोड़ नमूना हैं इस किले के अंदर कुछ दिलचस्प स्मारकों में किशोरी महल, महल खास, कोठी खास, मोती महल और जवाहर बुर्ज, जैसी कई इमारतें मोजूद हैं।

भरतपुर का सरकारी संग्रहालय भरतपुर का एक प्रमुख पर्यटक स्थल है। यह लोहागढ़ किले के बीच में स्थित हैं इसमें आपको भरतपुर के इतिहास से जुडी कई प्राचीन बस्तुये देखने को मिल जाएँगी, संग्रहालय में मुख्य रूप से आपको पत्थर की मूर्तियां, शिलालेख, सिक्के, हथियार, लघु चित्रों के साथ साथ और भी कई चीजे देखने को मिलेंगी |

The best time to visit Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is August to November for watching resident birds and October to March for spotting migratory birds.
केलादेव नेशनल पार्क शहर से करिवन 3 किलोमीटर से भी कम दूरी पर स्थित हैं यह 29 वर्ग किलोमीटर के क्षेत्र में फैला हुआ हैं जिसमे आप देश विदेश से आये बिभिन प्रकार के पक्षियों को देख सकते हैं, पूर्व में ये पार्क भरतपुर के राजाओ की शिकारगाह के रूप में इस्तेमाल किया जाता था लेकिन बाद में यहाँ शिकार पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया।1985 में इसे यूनेस्को की विश्व धरोहर स्थल के रूप में स्वीकार किया गया था इसके बाद इसे 1982 में एक राष्ट्रीय उद्यान के रूप में मान्यता प्राप्त थी। इस पार्क में आने वाले आगंतुक साइबेरिया, अफगानिस्तान और मध्य एशिया के पक्षियों की एक दिलचस्प नस्ल देख सकते हैं जिन्हें देखने के लिए रोजाना यहाँ सेकड़ों पर्यटक देश विदेश से पहुचते हैं.

डीग पैलेस भरतपुर (Deeg Bharatpur)
डीग पैलेस भरतपुर शहर से करिवान 35 कलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित हैं, डीग पैलेस को 1730 में महाराजा सूरजमल द्वारा बनाया गया था, इसमें छोटे और बड़े मिलकर करिवान 2000 फव्वारे हैं जो की आज भी सही सलामत हैं, जिन्हे सितम्बर और फरवरी के महीनों में एक उत्सव के दौरान साल में दो बार चलाया जाता हैं। डीग किले भ्रमण के लिए आप शुक्रवार को छोड़कर हफ्ते की किसी भी दिन 9 बजे से शाम 5 बजे के बीच आ सकते हैं |

About Bharatpur National Park :-
The Keoladeo National Park or Keoladeo Ghana National Park formerly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in Rajasthan, India is a famous avifauna sanctuary that sees (or saw) thousands of rare and highly endangered birds such as the Siberian Crane come here during the winter season. Over 230 species of birds are known to have made the National Park their home. It is also a major tourist centre with scores of ornithologists arriving here in the hibernal season. It was declared a protected sanctuary in 1971. It is also a declared World Heritage Site.
The sanctuary was created 250 years ago and is named after a Keoladeo (Shiva) temple within its boundaries. Initially, it was a natural depression; and was flooded after the Ajan Bund was constructed by Maharaja Suraj Mal, the then ruler of the princely state of Bharatpur, between 1726 to 1763. The bund was created at the confluence of two rivers, the Gambhir and Banganga. The park was a hunting ground for the maharajas of Bharatpur, a tradition dating back to 1850, and duck shoots were organised yearly in honor of the British viceroys. In one shoot alone in 1938, over 4,273 birds such as mallards and teals were killed by Lord Linlithgow, the then Governor-General of India. After India's independence, the rulers of the princely states were allowed shooting rights until 1972. In 1982, grazing was banned in the park, leading to violent clashes between the local farmer and Gujjar communities and the government.

Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is an estuarine mangrove habitat, which is declared as the bird sanctuary, and located on western tip of the Island of Chorão along the Mandovi River, Goa, in India. The sanctuary is named after Salim Ali, the eminent Indian ornithologist.
The sanctuary and island are accessed by a ferry service running between Ribander and Chorão. The sanctuary has a paved walk that runs between mangroves of Rhizophora mucronata, Avicennia officinalis and other species.The size of the sanctuary is 178 ha (440 acres). The area is covered by low mangrove forest.
Chilika Lake is the largest wintering ground for migratory birds, on the Indian sub-continent. It is one of the hotspots of biodiversity in the country. Some species listed in the IUCN Red List of threatened animals inhabit the lake for at least part of their life cycle.
White bellied sea eagles, greylag geese, purple moorhen, jacana, flamingos, egrets, grey and purple herons, Indian roller, storks, white ibis, spoonbills, brahminy ducks, shovellers, pintails, and more.
Migratory water fowl arrive here from as far as the Caspian Sea, Baikal Lake and remote parts of Russia, Mongolia, Lakah, Siberia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and from the Himalayas.[19] A census conducted in the winter of 1997-98 recorded about 2 million birds in the lake.
In 2007, nearly 840,000 birds visited the lake, out of which 198,000 were spotted in Nalbana Island. On 5 Jan 2008, a bird census involving 85 wildlife officials counted 900,000 birds of which 450,000 were sighted in Nalabana. Removal of invasive species of freshwater aquatic plants, especially water hyacinth, due to restoration of salinity, is a contributing factor for the recent increasing attraction of birds to the lake.

एशिया में पक्षियों के समूह प्रजातियों वाला सर्वश्रेष्ठ उद्यान के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। भरतपुर की गर्म जलवायु में सर्दियाँ बिताने प्रत्येक वर्ष साइबेरिया के दुर्लभ सारस यहाँ आते हैं। एक समय में भरतपुर के राजकुँवरों की शाही शिकारगाह रहा यह उद्यान विश्व के उत्तम पक्षी विहारों में से एक है जिसमें पानी वाले पक्षियों की चार सौ से अधिक प्रजातियों की भरमार है। गर्म तापमान में सर्दियाँ बिताने अफगानिस्तान, मध्य एशिया, तिब्बत से प्रवासी चिड़ियों की मोहक किस्में तथा आर्कटिक से साइबेरियन, साइबेरिया से भूरे पैरों वाले हंस और चीन से धारीदार सिर वाले हंस जुलाई-अगस्त में आते हैं और अक्टूबर-नवम्बर तक उनका प्रवास काल रहता है। उद्यान के चारों ओर जलकौओं, स्पूनबिल, लकलक बगुलों, जलसिंह इबिस और भूरे बगूलों का समूह देखा जा सकता है।
भरतपुर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान केवलादेव घना के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। केवलादेव नाम भगवान शिव को समर्पित मंदिर से लिया गया है जो इस उद्यान के बीच में स्थित है। घना नाम घने वनों की ओर संकेत करता है जो एक समय इस उद्यान को घेरे हुए था। यहाँ करीब ३७५ प्रजातियों के पक्षी पाये जाते हैं जिनमें यहाँ रहने वाले और प्रवासी पक्षी शामिल हैं। यहाँ भारत के अन्य भागों से तो पक्षी आते ही हैं साथ ही यूरोप, साइबेरिया, चीन, तिब्बत आदि जगहों से भी प्रवासी पक्षी आते हैं। पक्षियों के अलावा साम्भर, चीतल, नीलगाय आदि पशु भी यहाँ पाये जाते हैं।
°°°°लोहागढ़ किला -
महाराजा सूरजमल ने एक अभेद्य किले की परिकल्पना की थी, जिसके अन्तर्गत शर्त यह थी कि पैसा भी कम लगे और मजबूती में बेमिशाल हो। राजा साहब ने इस विषय पर मंत्रियों, दरबारियों तथा विद्वतजनों से गहन विचार-विमर्श किया, तत्कालीन युद्ध के साधनों एवम् उनकी मारक क्षमता का ध्यान रखते हुए किला बनाने का निर्णय लिया गया, जिसके फलस्वरूप किले के दोनों तरफ मजबूत दरवाजे जिनमें नुकीले लोहे की सलाखें लगायी गयी। उस समय तोपों तथा बारुद का प्रचलन अत्यधिक था, जिससे किलों की मजबूत से मजबूत दीवारों को आसानी से ढहाया जा सकता था। इसलिए पहले किले की चौड़ी-चौड़ी मजबूत पत्थर की ऊँची-ऊँची प्राचीरें बनायी गयी, अब इन पर तोपों के गोलों का असर नहीं हो इसके लिए इन दीवारों के चारों ओर सैकड़ों फुट चौड़ी कच्ची मिट्टी की दीवार बनायी गयी और नीचे सैकड़ों फुट गहरी और चौड़ी खाई बनाकर उसमें पानी भरा गया, जिससे दुश्मन के द्वारा तोपों के गोले दीवारों पर दागने के बाद वो मिट्टी में धँसकर दम तोड़ दे और अगर नीचे की ओर प्रहार करे तो पानी में शान्त हो जाए और पानी को पार कर सपाट दीवार पर चढ़ना तो मुश्किल ही नहीं असम्भव था। मुश्किल वक्त में किले के दरवाजों को बन्द करके सैनिक सिर्फ पक्की दीवारों के पीछे और दरवाजों पर मोर्चा लेकर पूरे किले को आसानी से अभेद्य बना लेते थे। जिस किले में लेशमात्र भी लोहा नहीं लगा और अपनी अभेद्यता के बल पर लोहगढ़ कहलाया। जिसने समय-समय पर दुश्मनों के दाँत खट्टे किये और अपना लोहा मनवाने में शत्रु को मजबूर किया। ऐसे थे भरतपुर के दूरदर्शी राजा। लोहागढ़ किले का निर्माण 18वीं शताब्दी के आरम्भ में जाट शासक महाराजा सूरजमल ने करवाया था। यह किला भरतपुर के जाट शासकों की हिम्मत और शौर्य का प्रतीक है। अपनी सुरक्षा प्रणाली के कारण यह किला लोहागढ़ के नाम से जाना गया। किले के चारों ओर गहरी खाई हैं जो इसे सुरक्षा प्रदान करती है। यद्यपि लोहागढ़ किला इस क्षेत्र के अन्य किलों के समान वैभवशाली नहीं है लेकिन इसकी ताकत और भव्यता अद्भुत है। किले के अन्दर महत्त्वपूर्ण स्थान हैं— किशोरी महल, महल खास, मोती महल और कोठी खास। सूरजमल ने मुगलों और अंग्रेजों पर अपनी जीत की याद में किले के अन्दर जवाहर बुर्ज और फतेह बुर्ज बनवाये। यहाँ अष्टधातु से निर्मित एक द्वार भी है जिसमें हाथियों के विशाल चित्र बने हुए हैं।

Keoladeo National Park or Keoladeo Ghana National Park is formerly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India is a famous avifauna sanctuary that hosts thousands of birds, especially during the winter season. Over 230 species of birds are known to be resident. It is also a major tourist centre with scores of ornithologists arriving here in the hibernal season. It was declared a protected sanctuary in 1971. It is also a World Heritage Site.

Keoladeo National Park is a vast bird sanctuary and former royal game reserve in the north Indian state of Rajasthan. South of the ancient city of Bharatpur, the park’s woods and man-made wetlands protect over 350 species of migratory and resident birds, including herons, cormorants and eagles.
Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary also called as Keoladeo Ghana National Park is a sanctuary that offers security to faunal species also. Keoladeo, the name gets from an old Hindu temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and remains at the focal point of the national park. Ghana implies thick, alluding to the thick woods, which used to cover the region.
Though the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is open around the year, but still, the best time to visit Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is from August to November to witness the resident birds and from October to February to get the sight of migratory birds.

Kadamb Kunj was a property of the Maharaja of Bharatpur located inside the Keoladeo Ghana National Park in Bharatpur. Kadamb Kunj was the place of stay on all hunting expeditions of the Maharaja and on visits of high ranking officials from the British East India Company for hunting. After Keoladeo was declared a National Park, the Government took over Kadamb Kunj as a property of the park and a legal battle is still on between the current King of Bharatpur and the Government regarding ownership and the property lies in ruins.

The great India Yatra: Bharatpur
The history of Bharatpur dates back to 5th century BC, when the Matsya kingdom flourished here. The Matsyas were allies of the Pandavas in the Mahabharata war. Legends say that the origin of the name Bharatpur is traced to Bharat, younger brother of Lord Ram. Laxman, the other brother, was given the most prestigious position as that of the family deity of the ruling family of Bharatpur. His name also appears in the state seals and coat-of-arms.
In the early 18th century, Maharaja Suraj Mal captured the fort of Bharatpur by vanquishing Khemkaran, the rival chieftain and laid the foundation for Bharatpur. The valiant Maharaja was very keen to expand the cities and is credited with building the numerous forts and palaces that dot the kingdom, including the Pleasure Palace Complex at Deeg.
Bharatpur is also home to one of the world's best-known bird watching destinations, Keoladeo Ghana National Park (KNP). 250 years ago, the then ruler built embankments that allowed flooding of this land, turning it into a marsh. Named after the dense jungle that surrounded an old Shiva Temple, this 29 square kilometre man-made wetland is renowned for migratory birds – ducks, geese, waders, raptors, flycatchers and more. In winter, avid birders and ornithologists flock to the park to observe and study the feathered beauties. With more than 370 recorded species, KNP used to also host the Siberian crane. It is a World Heritage Site.

While exploring Bharatpur in Rajasthan, it is worthwhile to visit the museum.
Bharatpur government museum is a major attraction for all the dwellers of Bharatpur and travellers alike. Located in the heart of Lohargarh fort, it was transformed into a museum in 1944 AD. There is also an art gallery in the museum which comprises the specimens of miniature paintings on leaves of peepal tree, mica and old litho papers. This museum primarily consists of stone sculptures, inscriptions, terracotta items, metallic objects, coins, weapons, miniature paintings and local art. All these items speak volumes about the rich heritage, art and crafts of the region.
