The Palace of Fontainebleau is a historic chateau located in the town of Fontainebleau, about 55 kilometers southeast of Paris, France. It was originally built in the 12th century as a hunting lodge for the French monarchs and was expanded and renovated over the centuries by various rulers, including Francis I, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Louis XV. The palace features a unique blend of architectural styles, including Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical, and contains numerous works of art, including frescoes, tapestries, and paintings. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 and remains a popular tourist destination today.
