South Korea part 1: Masan

Masan is a city in the south east of south Korea, that has more or less become part of the larger city Changwon. It is situated at a sea tongue, it has a harbor and it is surrounded by small mountains. These mountains offer great walks, the fish market is sure worth a visit, as well as the downtown area with the Chang Dong art village with several neat galleries. On one of these mountains I saw a Japanese Tiger Beetle, an amazingly beautiful insect that I found very hard to catch on camera, as it kept moving around fast. Luckily eventually I succeeded, it is shown at 1:06.
When you don't speak Korean it sure is a great challenge traveling in Korea, as few people speak English. Before going there I made s short study of the Korean Alphabet (see: ), which turned out to be very useful. As I'm a vegetarian, it was an extra challenge to get my meals, luckily my friend helped me writing a note in Korean for this purpose.
There are different locations for getting a bus out of the city, the airport bus to Busan airport (=Gimhae airport, with flights to beautiful Jeju island and Seoul, see my videos South Korea parts 4 and 5) leaves next to the train station. There are frequent buses to Busan (largest harbor of Korea, see my video South Korea part 2: Busan) and Tongyeong (a city surrounded with beautiful islands that are part of the large National Park Dadohae Haesang, see my video South Korea part 3: Tongyeong)
