Overland travel through western Uganda! (Be prepared for the unexpected) 🚐 🇺🇬
After the bustle of Kampala and a quick visit to the nearby Equator monument, I found myself in the town of Masaka, where I spent the night before preparing for my onward journey west towards the Rwandan border.
I traveled by Matatu (minibus) from town to town as I made my way from Masaka to the lakeside resort town of Kabale, via the city of Mbarara. Along the way, I experienced several of the unexpected surprises that come with 'roughing it' across Africa - brake failure, broken seatbelts, and sharing a bus with a couple of goats. Though, with a good dose of patience, the rewards that come with travelling overland in this region are too many to number.
