Assault landing in Mao which if I remember right is in Chad.
Mao was established in 1898 by Sultan Ali, brother of the sultan Djourab who was murdered by the fezzans and other accomplices. Since 1900, Mao was the real administrative centre of the north. It is inhabited mostly by Kagas (Kogonas), the magoumis the dazzas the azzas the fezzans the Toubou the kredas the toundjours and others. The town of Mao is now administered by a governor State authority and a sultan who is the iconic and historical authority even if the administrative perspective kanemiens because they are much more attached to the sultanate in the administration (sign of the story).

Chad - Peoples of Sahel
Today in Chad nomadism is still a way of life for many pastoralist ethnic groups such as Arabs, Tubus, Wodaabe or Fulattas groups.
Irregular seasonal rains and recurrent droughts make mobility the only viable route for these Sahelians.
Men or even entire families, along with hundreds and hundreds of animals, carry out transhumance every year. In the dry season they move from the north of the country to the south and return in the rainy season to the more arid regions of northern Chad.

Life In a Floating Slum in Africa - Makoko
The capital of Nigeria, Lagos, is home to a remarkable yet starkly contrasting community known as Makoko - a floating slum that vividly embodies both the resilience of the human spirit and the dire consequences of urban poverty. Beneath the surface of Makoko's waterborne vibrancy lies a harsher truth: the waters, a vital life source, are tainted with sewage and pollution. This environmental crisis is a daily battle for the residents, who face the constant threat of waterborne diseases. The lack of adequate sanitation facilities means that much of the waste and sewage from the densely populated settlement ends up directly in the lagoon, compounding the challenges of maintaining a healthy living environment. Poverty in Makoko is pervasive and profound. Yet amidst these hardships, the spirit of Makoko endures, presenting a deep and complex life narrative in one of Africa's most dynamic urban landscapes. Let us journey to Makoko, and explore how people live in the largest floating slum in the world.

NOT To Do in Nigeria
There are many misconceptions about Nigeria, it's not a poor country, it has a rich culture and cuisine, and not every man there is a prince who wants to give you money. Although Lagos, Abuja, and Calabar seem like well-established tourist locations, there are a few things we should avoid doing when we visit.
1. Don't Flash The Cash.
Most places accept credit cards, so the need for cash is low. Avoid carrying cash if possible and if you have to carry cash, avoid showing it. Keep your wallet and phone in your front pockets and don't wear any expensive jewelry or watches.
2. Don't Make Assumptions.
Although most Nigerians speak English and almost half are Christians you shouldn't assume their culture is the same. Over half of Nigerians are Muslim and the Nigerian culture is an amalgamation of multiple ethnic groups.
3. Don't Forget Your Vaccines!
In addition to your routine vaccines, it is recommended that you get vaccinated for Measles, Yellow fever, Polio, Hepatitis A, Malaria, and Typhoid. It is also a good idea to carry proof of your vaccinations with you as you may be asked for this at the airport.
4. Don't Forget Your Visa.
Unless you are a citizen of a neighboring country, you are going to need a visa to enter Nigeria. Start the process at least a month before your trip because it is quite a lengthy process and requires a lot of paperwork. it is also quite expensive, so be prepared!
5. Don't Be Afraid of The Cuisine!
Nigeria offers all types of international cuisines but their own is delicious (it maybe a bit spicy!) try Bolli which is roasted Plantain Jollof rice and Suya which are spicy kebabs.
6. Don't say you Love Africa!
Nigeria is a country, Africa is a continent. Going to Nigeria and telling a Nigerian you love Africa is like going to Cuba and saying you love North America!
7. Don,t Go Out Alone At Night
Taking walks or going out clubbing alone at night is not recommended. Get a guide or befriend a local, also avoid public transport and book cabs in advance from reputable companies!
8. Don't Forget Your passport
Get photocopies of your passport to carry around with you for identification and only show the original at the airport.
9. Pack Carefully!
Make sure you pack some necessities in your hand luggage, hold luggage can be delayed or even disappear so to avoid spending days in the same clothes, put some in your carry-on bag. Pack a torch and a battery pack too, as power outages are a common occurrence.

LUCY'S CHEN STYLE TAIJI
I met Lucy Wang last summer at the abandoned tennis court where I practice taiji every morning when I visit my family in Shanghai. I was blown away by the grace and perfection of her 74 movement Chen style. She grew up in Henan province near the Chen village where this style originated and has obviously worked very hard to reach this level. Learning to move so effortlessly is not easy.
