Mankera ( منكيره‎), is the principal town of Mankera Tehsil, an administrative subdivision of Bhakkar District, in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is situated about 320 kilometres west of the city of Lahore.
Bhakkar is located in the west of Punjab. The mighty Indus River flows on the Western side of the District which plays havoc during monsoon season and the Jehlum and Chenab rivers both flow on the eastern side they also sometimes plays havoc during monsoon season. One third of the land is sandy of which small portion is irrigated by Thal canal and tube wells. Rest of the sandy land is cultivated and is entirely dependent upon rains. People mostly depend on agriculture which is highly dependent on rain falls. As such people are poor, backward and traditional. Education and health facilities are not adequately available..
The Thal desert ( صحراےَ تھل) is situated in Punjab, Pakistan. The vast expanse is located between the Jhelum and Sindh rivers near the Pothohar Plateau, with a total length from north to south 190 miles, and a maximum breadth of 70 miles (110 km) and minimum breadth 20 miles. The desert covers the districts of Bhakkar, Khushab, Mianwali, Layyah, Muzaffargarh as well as Jhang, from the left bank of the river Jhelum. Geographically, it resembles the deserts of Cholistan and Thar.

Darya Khan (درياخان), is a town in Bhakkar District in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. The town is the headquarters of Darya Khan Tehsil. The sun, which was sleeping with its head in the embrace of the night, had now woken up. As soon as they began to illuminate the red earth with their beautiful rays from their eastern horizon, we had already entered the earth. Welcomed by the cool breeze from the open parking lot, the heart wanted to park the car on its side and rest here for some time. So I stopped the car on the side of the road. As soon as I got down, the soft and icy cold sand kissed my feet
A strange sense of belonging made me familiar with my touch. In front of me, as far as the eye could see, there was a sea of sand that never seemed to end. A board was seen on the side of the road in front of which was written Bhakkar. The heart wanted to go for a walk. Everything seen and heard in Bhakkar is here for you. Let us take you on a tour of Bhakkar too.
Bhakkar is the last western city of Punjab. Which is located south of Mianwali, west of Jhang north of Leh and east of Dera Ismail Khan. It is an ancient city situated on the left bank of the river Indus. District Bhakkar consists of two parts. One is a riverine plain and the other is a desert region. The desert area is spread over a larger area than the river plain in which Mankira Tehsil is located which is one of the major Tehsils of Punjab. It is said that Bhakkar is an ancient city and its culture is very simple and full of love.
The people here are sincere, simple, hospitable, kind, hardworking and most of the laborers are poor. The native language of the residents here is Saraiki, but Urdu is also spoken in the cities. There are different tribes living here. Most of the population is dependent. It is on agriculture. The water here is pleasant, sweet and sweet. The people here are beautiful and kind. Bhakkar was given district status in 1982. District Bhakkar is located at the junction of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. At present, the population of Bhakkar is about 1857854 people.
Bhakkar has three tehsils. Tehsil Bhakkar, Tehsil Mankira, Tehsil Kalurkot and Tehsil Darya Khan. Its area is 8153 square hectares. The average elevation above sea level is 159 meters. Although the district is considered as one of the backward districts of Punjab in terms of development, there are many government and non-government schools and hospitals here. Beautiful mosques, madrasas and dargahs are a testament to the religious commitment of the people here.
Even though the era of prayers and fairs at the dargahs of the poor men and women is coming to an end, the residents of Bhakkar still have good feelings about religious devotion. Among the famous places of Bhakkar are Qasr Zainab where devotees visit in large numbers from all over the country, Dil Kusha Bagh is an ancient garden which is said to have been built by the Mughal Emperor Humayun.
Qila Mankira is an ancient historical fort, although there are only a few remains of it now, the graves of some of the chieftains are still present inside it. Thal Canal which passes near Bhakkar city irrigates the district. While a canal called Thal Greater has been taken out for irrigation of Thal area. The famous crops here include wheat, sugarcane, gram, cotton, groundnut, rice etc
