I have been living in Alanya for the past year and it is famous for its stunning beaches, Taurus mountains, and ancient history. Cleopatra beach in Alanya is one of the most famous beaches n Turkey as Queen Cleopatra once swam here.
Take the cable cars up to Alanya Castle which was once the summer residence of Seljuk Sultan Aladdin Keykubad. The Red Tower was also built during the reign of Sultan Aladdin and it is now a national symbol of Alanya. The Alanya shipyard is also nearby and you can buy a combined ticket with the Red Fort Tower.
The Alanya Pirate boat tours are popular with tourists and you can visit many caves and beaches during this tour. You can also see the famous Alanya lighthouse from the seas.
Some popular day trips from Alanya include Manavgat waterfall, Side (where you can try out dune buggies and white water rafting), Koprulu Canyon, and Sapadere Kanyon.
You can find many amazing restaurants cooking up some of the freshest and best produce that grows here in Alanya. One unique restaurant we recommend visiting is called Göl Piknik in the Dimçayi area. This is a fabulous mountainside restaurant with delicious dishes. We chose the sac kavurma, cheesy mushrooms, chips, eggplant, and yogurt salads. In the summer months, you can enjoy your meal outside in canopy’s surrounded by the water and play in the water park. After visiting this restaurant, you can visit the nearby Dimçayi caves, and lakes and enjoy the scenic views.

Number 4 ALANYA TELEFERIK Alanya Teleferik On the east side of the beach is the lower station for a cable car that took people up to the castle promontory. The cable car opened in the summer of 2017. The Alanya Teleferik goes up 250 metres on a 900-meter line, and every 19 seconds, one of its 14 gondolas will leave. When you're on board, you'll have amazing views of the Gulf of Antalya, the resort, and the Taurus Mountains, which are further away.
Number 3 KLEOPATRA BEACH Kleopatra Beach Alanya's main beach is a long, gentle arc of coarse sand that starts at the western foot of that point. It is washed by low to moderate waves. Kleopatra Beach is wide and only gets a little narrower as you go north. It gives you a clear view of the castle and the dark Taurus Mountains. Along the beach, there are beach clubs with sun loungers, and between the beach and Atatürk Boulevard is a wide promenade with the same views, shaded by swaying palms and separated from the street by a strip of greenery with playgrounds and flowerbeds.
Number 2 RED TOWER (KIZIL KULE) Red Tower (Kızılkule) Alanya's symbol is a Seljuk defensive tower from the 1300s. It is called the Red Tower because the top floor and parapet are made of red brick. The base of the Red Tower is an eight-sided shape, and its lower walls are made of marble blocks. This rare piece of defensive architecture from the Middle Ages was built to protect Alanya's harbour and shipyard. For hundreds of years, it was the first thing people saw when they came to the city.
Number 1 ALANYA CASTLE Alanya Castle The steep peninsula of the city is surrounded on three sides by the Mediterranean Sea. On top of the peninsula is a fortified castle from the 13th century that is surrounded by 6.5 km of walls. This rocky mass makes a natural defence, and the castle we see today was built on top of Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine walls. There are a total of 83 towers and 140 towers in the walls, and many of the original 1,200 cisterns are still in use. Alanya Castle is a huge archaeological site that can be explored for hours.

Today I share with you the top 15 things that you must see in Alanya Turkey. This is the best video you will ever see on Alanya, which is in the Antalya province of Turkey, as I show the top must-visit attractions of this city.
Take the Teleferik (Alanya cable car) up to Alanya Castle was built in the 13th century under the Seljuk Empire following the city’s conquest in 1220 by Sultan Aladdin Keykubad I. The castle was built on the remnants of earlier Byzantine and Roman era fortifications. Today the castle is an open-air museum showcasing some of the Seljuk era artefacts and turquoise blue tiles. You can also visit the Suleymaniye Camii in Alanya before you reach the castle.
One of the best ways to explore the coast of Alanya is by taking a boat tour from the harbour. You can take a private boat or the popular pirate ships which take you to various beaches and caves. One of the caves you can see is the Phosphorus Cave which is located in the Damlatas peninsula. The phosphorus coating on the walls causes the cave to glow a vibrant blue colour even during the night.
Side is just an hour drive from Alanya and a popular day trip from the city. It is an ancient port city with long beaches, Greco-Roman ruins, a 2nd century amphitheatre and the famous Temple of Apollo. The old city of Side is filled with many cafes, restaurants, boutique hotels, souvenir shops and museums.
There are many local bazaars in Alanya where you can buy souvenirs. If you’re looking for some big stores then you may want to visit the Alanyum mall. You will find many big stores, boutiques, souvenirs, a food court, a children’s play area as well as a cinema in Alanyum.
The Kevi Evi Park (or Cat House Park) is home to many cats and is full of beautiful trees and fountains. It is a great park to visit in central Alanya.
If you're looking for a good authentic Turkish restaurant then one we highly recommend is Bursa Kebab Ev in Alanya. One of our favourite cafes that you may consider visiting is Cafe Della Via in Alanya which serves delicious teas, coffees and refreshments.
The Red Fort or Red Tower is an iconic landmark of Alanya and full of well-preserved history from the Seljuk era.
