Mahishadal Rajbari or Mahishadal Royal Palace (West Bengal, near Haldia) both old and new are worth visiting by the history and heritage lovers. It is one of the most popular tourist spots in Purba Medinipur. This video is about my visit to Mahishadal Rajbari in Purba Midnapur on our mandatory Independence Day long drive on 15/08/2022. A North Indian businessman, named Janardhan Upadhyay Garg, developed a large estate in the 16th century. He bought the Zamindari from the then Raja Kalyan Roy Chowdhury who failed to pay the revenue to the king and King Akbar declared him Raja by issuing a charter. The estate of the Zamindari was later transferred to Guru Prasad Garg, grandson of Mata Janaki. During the days of Rani Janaki Devi, it reached its zenith in the 18th century. There are two palaces namely Rangi Basan (or Amrakunja, the old one) established in 1840 and Phulbagh (the new one) established in 1926. There are Durbar room, Shikar room, rest room, arms room, games room. They were involved in various philanthropic activities of that area. The Gopal Jeu and Ram Jeu temples within the Rajbari complex are popular with tourists. মহিষাদল পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পূর্ব মেদিনীপুর জেলার একটি ঐতিহাসিক শহর। মহিষাদল রাজবাড়ি কলকাতার একটি চমৎকার সাপ্তাহিক ছুটির গন্তব্য, বিশেষ করে ইতিহাস উত্সাহীদের জন্য। ষষ্ঠদশ শতকে জনার্দন উপাধ্যায় প্রথম এই রাজবাড়িটি তৈরি করেছিলেন। সপ্তাহান্তের ছুটিতে কাছেপিঠে বেড়ানোর জন্য ঘরের কাছে পর্যটন কেন্দ্র হিসেবে মহিষাদল রাজবাড়ি কিন্তু বেশ জনপ্রিয়। নানা সংগৃহীত রাজবাড়ির তথ্যসমূহও দেখার সুযোগ মিলবে সংগ্রহশালায়। মহিষাদল রাজবাড়িতে এখন তিনটি প্রাসাদ রয়েছে। প্রথমে রঙ্গিবসান এবং দ্বিতীয় লালকুঠিতে প্রবেশাধিকার নেই৷ তৃতীয় ফুলবাগেই কেবল পর্যটকদের জন্য থাকার ব্যবস্থা করা হয়। তবে ফুলবাগই একদিনে দেখে শেষ করা প্রায় অসম্ভব৷চওড়া দালান। কড়িকাঠের সিলিং। কারুকার্য করা দরজা জানলা। তাতে আবার সেই পুরনো দিনের খরখরি। দুর্গামণ্ডপ। তাতে লাগানো ঝাড়বাতি। রয়েছে একটা বিশাল কামান। আগে নাকি দুর্গাপুজোর সময় এই কামান দাগা হত। এখন আর সেসব হয় না। কয়েকশো একর জায়গা জুড়ে গড়ে ওঠা আম্রকুঞ্জ, বড় বড় দিঘি, প্রয়োজনে বোটে করে ঘোরাও যায়। কাছেই রয়েছে গান্ধী কুটির, স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামী সতীশ চন্দ্র সামন্ত, সুশীল ধাঁড়ার বাড়ি, মহিষাদল রাজ কলেজ, রাজ হাইস্কুল, রাজবাড়ির কুলদেবতা গোপালজিউ মন্দির, আগের দিনে রাজ পরিবারের শিকার করার হাতিয়ার, শিকার করা পশুপাখি, বাঘ, সিংহও দেখতে পাওয়া যাবে৷ পাঁচ কিলোমিটার দূরে ত্রিবেণী সঙ্গম রয়েছে৷ এই রাজবাড়িতেই একটা মিউজিয়ামও রয়েছে। রাজবাড়ির আশপাশের গ্রামও ঘুরে দেখা যায়৷
