Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage

A short trip to Chipangali Bulawayo Zimbabwe

Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage is a non profit organisation dedicated to the rescue and care of orphaned, injured, abandoned, abused or confiscated wild animals in southern Africa.

It is a haven for wild animals which have little hope for survival in the wild – creatures which have been orphaned, abandoned, injured, born in captivity or brought up unsuccessfully as pets.

It is also often the last refuge for those brought in sick or injured, and increasingly it is a sanctuary for confiscated animals.

Chipangali offers a volunteer program for people from all over the world. To find out more, check out

What To Do With 11 Hours in Luveve, Bulawayo!

Luveve is a residential suburb located 12 kilometers from Bulawayo's core business centre. Colonel C.L. Carbutt, the Chief Native Commissioner, was the inspiration for the name of this district, which was founded in 1936. Carbutt was given the moniker Nomveve when working among the Zulu in South Africa, and this nickname was altered to Luveve when he landed in Matabeleland. Our Drone Videographer Ishmael Mkandla and Cinematographer Thembani Melusi Phakati take us on a tour of Luveve in this video to demonstrate what can be accomplished in 11 hours in this historic location.

The 11 Hour Guide:
1. Learn the History of the Place.
2. Take a walk on L-Street and Banda Square.
3. Visit Chigumira Shopping Centre.
4. Get Schooled on African Culture by Bekezela Dube.
5. Grab a bite by Samaz Butchery.
6. Take a Tour of Luveve Railway Line.
7. Take Pics by Calvin 'Dat Luveve Boi's' mural.
8. Take a look at the Historic Luveve Beit Hall.
9. Watch a soccer match by Luveve Stadium.
10. Catch the sunset by Matsika Butchery.

History on the naming of Luveve township sourced from the Bulawayo City Council Library.

~ About Magriza Made Me Cook: » Magriza is slang for uGogo (Grandmother in isiNdebele) and the name of the show is derived from Prince's inspiration for falling in love with cooking; his grandmother. The goal of MMMC is to document and serve Africa's diverse food culture, one dish at a time. We believe that Africa has got unique meals that ought to be talked about, and most importantly, cooked consistently. We believe in the values of Ubuntu, Respect, Creativity and Minimalism.

Leaving Hwange National Park heading to the Zambezi

It's time to pack up camp and head out of Hwange. First we pop in to Robin's Camp to look around then we head out the gate towards Victoria Falls and the #Zambezi National Park in the far Northwest of Zimbabwe. Once we are out of the park, Andy takes a nap. Before we get to the tar road, we stop for lunch, make our vehicle road legal, and pump up the tyres.

In this series we are filming in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe with Imvelo Safari Lodges. From there we travel North, up though the park to Victoria Falls and we camp for a few nights next to the Zambezi River in the Zambezi National Park. Then we move across to Botswana and stay at Pangolin Chobe hotel for a night before camping for a few nights in Chobe National Park at Ihaha campsite. Then we take the long and scenic route home across the Caprivi strip and down through Namibia.

We don't make much money from these videos. So if you like what we do, please consider supporting us on Patreon:

Filmed and edited by Robert Hofmeyr and Andrew Caldwell.

Special thanks to Imvelo Safari Lodges ( and Pangolin Photo Safaris ( for their assistance and support on this collaboration.

Behind-the-scenes shot on a GoPro Hero 10. For the telephoto wildlife shots we used a Canon 200-400mm f4 lens on a Red V-Raptor camera. Moving shots were done using a Red Komodo 6K with a Sigma 18-35 f1.8 or Canon 14mm f2.8. Aerials filmed using a Mavic Air 2s.

Be WARNED!! Victoria Falls Highway

You can die if you are not careful driving along Victoria Falls - Bulawayo highway.

The road was washed away by heavy rains that washed away part of the road after Masuwe bridge when approaching town.

It pains me to see that place neglected LL Ike that. It was supposed to be an emergency.

Bringing Healthcare to Remote Zimbabwe (S1 | E1)

Bringing Healthcare to Remote Zimbabwe
At dinner with the First Lady of Zimbabwe in 2019, the First Lady pointed to Binga on a map and told Jeannie Burns Buckner, “This is the most remote location in our country, and this is where I want a clinic.” Right then and there, Jeannie committed to do the impossible. And she did.

This is the story of how the impossible became reality.

The people of Makwe are rejoicing and they say thank you to Bethel Church in San Jose, Calif, for giving the funds to have this water well drilled in Makwe, Zimbabwe, Africa. St. Francis Xavier School in Zimbabwe

A private Catholic school near the town of Dete, Zimbabwe. 592 students, about 1 in 5 of whom have lost one or both parents to AIDS. (HIV infection rate in Zimbabwe is over 50%). Tuition is $8 month, which many parents cannot afford in an environment with 80% unemployment. The children were all enthusiastic and good-natured, especially the younger ones, who literally latched on to us and had to be pried off.
