Livorno (Things to do - Places to Visit) - LIVORNO Top Tourist Places City in Italy
Livorno is an Italian port city on the west coast of Tuscany. It's known for its seafood, Renaissance-era fortifications and modern harbour with a cruise ship port.
Its central Terrazza Mascagni, a waterside promenade with checkerboard paving, is the city's main gathering place. The bastions of the 16th-century Fortezza Vecchia face the harbour and open onto Livorno's canal-laced Venezia Nuova quarter.

Livorno: A genuine experience on the Tuscan Coast
Have you been to the Tuscan coast? Livorno is where Luca was born and its history of artists, free thinkers and international merchants is truly unique in Italy. It’s a place well off the beaten tourist track where you can try incredible food, make mozzarella, and explore the merchant canals of this Renaissance port city.
It’s also where Lauren and Luca, the founders of Unlock Italy, call home!

Places To Visit In Livorno Italy
Livorno is a beautiful city in Tuscany. In this video, we walked along Viale Italia, we had some good lunch, hung out at a park nearby, and got to see the historical Terrazza Mascagni, a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea port. Although, we weren't impressed with the water for swimming, everything else around the area is worth visiting. If we had more time, we would've joined in the fun at the swimming pool resort next to the Terrazza.

A Tour of LIVORNO ITALY 🇮🇹: The Venice of TUSCANY!
LIVORNO, ITALY: An afternoon on the Tuscan coastline! Join me on a walking tour of the beautiful canals, Fortezza Nuova (now a park), Piazza della Repubblica & the seaside plaza Terrazza Mascagni. 🇮🇹 See all of my ITALY videos here →
My week-long trip to Tuscany begins with a journey to the Italian seaside city of Livorno which is about a 15 minute train ride from Pisa. Livorno is known locally as the ‘Venice of Tuscany’ due to its 16th century canals that connect the city with Pisa - a historically important trade route.
My tour of Livorno starts at the main plaza called Piazza della Repubblica, an oval-shaped meeting place surrounded by imposing buildings and containing a number of statues. There’s actually a canal running underneath it and from either end I got some wonderful views of the waterways.
Across the road are the ruins of an old fortress called Fortezza Nuova which suffered severe damage in the Second World War, it’s now a quirky little park with excellent city views. From there I walked around the oldest part of the city rich in narrow canals and quiet streets. Before I knew it I was walking through the newer developed part of the city centre and on towards the seafront.
After exploring Terrazza Mascagni, the yacht-filled marina and waterfront area, I caught a train back to Pisa and gave you a quick tour of my accommodation for this trip - the Hotel Terminus Plaza close to Pisa Train Station. This is where I’m basing myself for the week whilst I head out on the train each day to explore a little bit of Tuscany.

About us: In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend's lists – but with the world. Part of the reason was for bragging rights (I mean, that’s kind of the point of sharing photos, right?), but also to help answer questions to others about the destinations they have visited.
After inviting some of our friends and family, it grew and grew – and as of June 2019, the group has grown to over 200,000 members! One reason for our success, we believe, is that we have done our best to ensure only high-quality photos and videos get shared, all while limiting the use of commercial content.

Travel to Livorno Italy Tuscany Europe - the main sights in Livorno!
Livorno is a port city on the Ligurian Sea on the western coast of Tuscany, Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Livorno, having a population of approximately 161,000 residents in 2011.
ivorno was founded in 1017 as one of small fortresses along the coast which were protecting Pisa. It belonged to the city of Pisa for several hundred years. However, the port serving Pisa was not Livorno but Porto Pisano, destroyed after the hard defeat of the Pisan fleet in the Battle of Meloria. Between 1404 and 1421, Livorno belonged to Genoa, and on August 28, 1421 it was sold to Florence. Between 1427 and 1429, the census was held. According to the results of the census, there were 118 families in Livorno, which made 423 persons. Monks, Jews, military, and homeless were not included in the census. The only remainder of the Medieval Livorno is a fragment of two towers and a wall, located inside the Old Fort.
