8 Reasons Why Americans LEAVE Costa Rica [Why I Left]

The TRUTH about living in Costa Rica: Why do so many Americans leave Costa Rica after moving there? In this video, I explain what causes expats to change their minds about retiring abroad and why I left Costa Rica after 8 years. Some of the initial reasons that people want to move to Costa Rica include the moderate climate, laid back lifestyle, fresh and healthy food, friendly people, beaches, medical tourism, and the low cost of living. But is Costa Rica really a safe and friendly country or is it actually dangerous and expensive? Once they arrive, many people realize that living in Costa Rica wasn't quite what they expected. Unfortunately, that results in people returning home quite soon after arriving.

After helping more than 500 foreigners move to Costa Rica and living there for eight years, this video explains the top reasons why people move back to the USA and why I left, too, so that you know more about what to expect BEFORE you get there. This is the real and sometimes dark truth about living in Costa Rica. What do you think are the biggest pros and cons of living in Costa Rica? Let us know in the comments.

LEARN ABOUT GEOCACHING HERE!

Geocaching is a fun and rewarding hobby that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. For those who are new to geocaching, the prospect of finding hidden treasures in the great outdoors can be an exciting experience. However, it can also be a bit intimidating, especially for those who are unfamiliar with the hobby or don't know where to start. Here are some tips on how new geocachers, or muggles, can get involved with geocaching:

1. Create an account on a geocaching website or app: The first step to getting involved with geocaching is to create an account on either Geocaching.com or the Geocaching app. This will give you access to a database of caches that have been hidden by other geocachers in your area. The free version allows access to limited caches, but you can upgrade to Premium to gain access to all geocaches!

2. Find a cache near you: Once you've created your account, use the search function to find a cache near you. You can filter your search by location, difficulty, and terrain, depending on your preferences.

3. Read the cache description: Before you head out to search for a cache, be sure to read the cache description carefully. This will give you important information about the cache, including its location, difficulty level, and any hints that might help you find it.

4. Bring a pen and some trinkets to trade: When you find a cache, be sure to sign the logbook and leave a trinket if you have one to trade. This is a fun way to participate in the geocaching community and leave your mark on the cache.

5. Follow the geocaching etiquette: As you get more involved with geocaching, it's important to follow the etiquette of the hobby. This includes leaving the cache exactly as you found it, respecting private property, and being mindful of other geocachers and muggles who may be in the area.

If you want to learn more about getting involved with the geocaching community, you can subscribe to Hullsome on YouTube and follow me on TikTok and Instagram. Between watching my videos and following the steps above, you can quickly become a pro and experience all the thrill and excitement that geocaching has to offer!

What This American Learned Living Portugal: 49 Differences [Part 3]

#portugal #american

This is our 3rd short video of the 49 differences between life in the United States and life in Portugal, as observed by one American, mostly. Chris is constantly making observations and keeping notes about anything and everything that stands out to him in any way, anywhere we go.

His 4 observations in this video includes:

1. Grocery stores are often in malls.
2. This one's a no-brainer, but almost all of the packaging in grocery stores is in Portuguese.
3. Bacalhau exists. We'd never heard of dried cod like this before arriving in Portugal.
4. Virtual Line Management Technology. Chris came up with the term. It's a fantastic way to move a line along in the grocery store.

How to pick and eat crab like a Baltimore native | Where Locals Go

Certain foods are intuitive to eat, like popcorn or a burger. You just grab them and go. Other dishes take more effort and precision, like Maryland’s famous steamed blue crabs. At first glance, the delicacy can be intimidating to the uninitiated. There are the seemingly impenetrable shell and beady little eyes to avoid.

To clear up confusion about how to eat Maryland blue crabs, we went to Baltimore to talk to Damye Hahn, whose family has owned Faidley’s Seafood Market since 1886. Housed in the historical Lexington Market, Faidley’s is a Maryland seafood institution best known for its award-winning lump crab cakes. But visitors can get their crab in a lot of ways at Faidley’s. Beyond the lump crab cake, there’s crab soup, soft-shell crab sandwiches and steamed crabs, among other preparations.

They say records are meant to be broken, but I don't think they were talking about temperatures.

The United States is experiencing the worst heatwave on record, as is much of Europe. Records are being broken daily in many countries around the world, but there are a few places where it's still nice and cool, even when they break records.

In this video, you'll learn about 10 countries that have more stable weather, and cooler overall temps throughout the year than the US and southern Europe. Several have 4 seasons, but others have mostly the same cool temperatures year round.

You can get a 90 day tourist visa to wait out the hot summer in all 10, and you can apply for residency in several so you can stay longer if you wish.

You don't have to suffer through the heat. You can escape to better places!

Could this be Indiana's best waterfall?

Cataract Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Owen County Indiana in between Terre Haute and Indianapolis. The largest falls by volume in the entire state. Cataract Falls consists of two falls, the upper and lower portion, the upper being a 45 foot drop and the lower being around 30. Amazing scenery to be had here, and great opportunities for a picnic with the family.

PS old footage captured by my iphone, but love this place and wanted to share!!!

10 Top Tourist Attractions in Berlin - Travel Video

Explore the top tourist attraction in Berlin that still bears the scars of the recent past.
10 Top Tourist Attractions in Berlin - Travel Video

1. Brandenburg Gate

The Brandenburg Gate is a neoclassical monument that has stood through the city’s history since the 18th century and it should be at the top of your list of things to see in Berlin!
As you might already know, the gate is a symbol of separation between East and West Berlin, and is probably one of the most significant landmarks in the city! Be sure not to miss this historical spot and the photo opportunities it brings!

2. Museum Island

Located in the middle of the Spree River, Museum Island (also known as Museumsinsel) is a complex that was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status. If you are wondering about the best way to get your Museum Island tickets, it’s best to purchase a 3-day museum pass and spend a whole day there in order to fully appreciate the beauty of the place.

Pergamon museum – One of the most visited museums in Europe! You will find the Ishtar Gate, the Processional Way, the Market Gate of Miletus, and Islamic art there, among other things.
Bode museum – go there to see impressive sculptures, Byzantine and Antique art
Neues museum – this one is great if you are interested in Ancient Egyptian art
Altes museum – for fans of Greek, Etruscan and Roman art
Alte Nationalgalerie – a National Art Gallery with Neoclassical, Romantic, Impressionist and early Modernist artwork

3. TV Tower

Berlin TV tower, also known as Fernsehturm Berlin, gives the best 360-degree view of Berlin. It can hardly go unnoticed as it is the highest building in the city!
Climb up this concrete jungle during sunset for a more scenic experience!
As with most of the TV towers around the world, you can have cocktails or dinner at the Berlin TV Tower Restaurant, which is a revolving one! If you are interested in this experience.

4. Reichstag

Another historical site to visit in Berlin is the Reichstag, a place where the Parliament sits. It has a glass dome, which represents the political transparency of the city.
The entrance to Reichstag Berlin is free of charge, but be sure to book your visit well in advance!
If you would prefer to take a private tour instead of Reichstag and the Glass Dome, where a guide will explain everything you need to know without having to be in a big group of people, you can book yours here and you can choose to have it in your preferred language (English, French, Spanish or Italian)
