the Kingdom of Northumbria - Holy Island, Lindisfarne & Alnwick Castle - Harry Potter film location

Welcome to the kingdom of Northumbria. I am on one day tour with timberbush to Holy Island, Lindisfarne Castle and Alnwick castle featured in Harry Potter.

The entry gate to the holy island is a causeway that leads to this beautiful peaceful island and to the Lindisfarne castle which dates back to the 16 century.

This castle is located in a historical very volatile border area between England and Scotland. This land remembers not only great scots soldiers but also Norseman and Vikings. You can enjoy a view or take walk to Lindisfarne priory ruins.

This beautiful monastery was founded in the 7th century. This priory became the base for evangelism in the North of England. In 793 Vikings raid this monastery, and this event was as often taken as the beginning of the Viking age. During the attack, many monks has been killed. captured or enslaved.

Now I will take you to ALNWICK castle, but before we fly to this 11th-century gem, please hit that subscribe button or leave me a comment. It is a big support for my channel. Thank you.
This beautiful castle has been founded in the 11th century and from that time, it survived many battles. Currently is the home of the 12th Duke. It is the second-largest inhabited castle in England.

During world war 2, Newcastle church evacuated their girl's students to Alnwick castle. By entering the castle you can visit many exhibitions including frescoes from Pompei, relics from Ancient Egypt or see a fight with a dragon
Also if you are visiting with a harry potter fan, you can have a magical experience right inside the castle walls.

I hope you enjoy my video, and if I earn your subscription today. Thank you

Holy Island || Lindisfarne Castle | (A Beautiful Beach) | Americans in the UK | Family Vlog

While on Holiday we visited Holy Island, a coastal tidal island in Northeast England, to see Lindisfarne Castle. On the island we discovered a large, expansive, and beautiful beach. The beach was truly beautiful.... and empty! I was shocked that such a lovely beach could be deserted. But it was perfect for exploring, running, and enjoying the vast space.

The hike to the beach was also enjoyable as it was much further to the water than expected. Also, we had no idea that a beautiful beach was waiting at the end of the hike... that made it all worth while.

If you get a chance I highly recommend Holy Island, the village on the island, the beach, and Lindisfarne Castle as excellent day trip locations.

***Please be mindful of the tide schedule and never try to drive through high or rising tidal waters. For your safety, Beware. 👍🏾

Britain has so many beautiful and hidden gems like Holy Island.

Northumberland Coast Wigwam Holiday

Northumberland Coast Wigwam Holiday Diary

A few days spent with Pot-a-Doodle-Do Wigwam Holidays in Scremerston, Northumberland. Just outside Berwick-upon-Tweed.

As well as the scenic Northumberland coastline, the area also boasts some fascinating historic areas. A few excellent examples from World War 2 were within walking distance of our accomodation. A former gun box battery defence is on the back at Cocklawburn. And about a mile away sits the former WW2 Spittal Chain Low Radar Station.

Being just over the border from Scotland, Edinburgh is easily accessible via train in under 45 minutes. We explored the Forth Bridge and Edinburgh Castle.

A few miles up the coast is the historic Lindisfarne Holy Island. Accessible only at certain times of the day over the tidal causeway, the Holy Island has a castle, priory and delightful buildings on every corner.

My channel was set up in 2020 mainly to feature my running adventures. I planned to film and showcase the days out and destinations my running travels took me. Mainly the Peak District and the sights and marvels of Sheffield and the surrounding regions.

However due to Covid restrictions, I found a new interest in researching and exploring old abandoned places - railway lines, canal, woodland, parks to name a few.
So the videos you'll find will be mainly be of those things. Of course, where possible I'll be running to my destination.

A pilgrimage to Lindisfarne

We chose to walk from our campsite to Holy island along the Pilgrims path , following the poles along the sand.
I needs to be walked an hour to two hours after the causeway opens as the water levels are still to high to walk it before then.
We had atmospheric mist and after a pint in the pub we had haunting wailing winds on the way back. We were imagining being mediaeval pilgrims, rescuing lost soles.
