These towns are nevertheless historic with the most stunning wonders the world has ever seen. The charming towns guarantee unforgettable experiences to anyone, whether visiting for a day, a weekend, a week, or a longer period. In this video, we want to take a look at the 10 historic English towns you must visit before you die. We understand that you may have been to other historic cities with similar allure. 10. Rye Let’s begin this engaging journey from Rye, a small town and civil parish. It’s located in the Rother District of East Sussex. Just 3.2 miles from the sea, Rye is at the confluence of the Rother, the Tillingham, and the Brede rivers. This town of about 10,000 residents has a lot of things to tell you about your past. Lewes is a small town built into the slopes either side of the Ouse Valley. There are many things to do in Lewes in East Sussex. Lewes is famous for many independent, antique and quirky shops, as well as historic pubs. Lewes also has a working brewery situated in the town centre and above the medieval streets stands Lewes Castle and museum.
Lewes has a small food market selling fresh, local produce, and a craft market too. Lewis has many lovely #medieval streets to explore, old English churches and twittens (alleyway). The town is dominated by the remains of a Norman castle and is also home to the house of Anne of Cleves (fourth wife of #KingHenryVlll). Lewes also has contemporary art galleries and historical sites including Priory of St. Pancras. Cliffe High Street contains Bookshops, boutiques and antique centres as well as restaurants, cafes, and pubs.

Historic Town and Castle Walking Tour - Lewes, UK Travel Vlog
Follow us as we walk around the historic and beautiful town of Lewes in East Sussex. It’s a beautiful place to visit. There is so much history here dating over 1000 years.
We started the day by visiting the old Southover Grange gardens. They are beautiful in the summer and a great free place to visit. It is maintained by the local council and has a huge variety of trees and plants. Next we wen to see the Anne of Cleves house, it has so much history. Dating all the way back to King Henry the 8th.
Then we went to see the ancient Lewes Priory. It was the first Cluniac priory of its kind in the UK, having been destroyed by wars, royalty changes, and other amazing history it now sits as a ruin, an impressive one however.
We then visited Lewes FC and the mound next door, it is said to date back to when the monks from the priory panned for salt and dug up the soil turning it into the mound it is today.
LEwes Castle was the highlight of the day, used as a fortress by the King in the Battle of Lewes. The castle dates back over 1000 years, if you love history this is the place for you.
We then peaked over to the old fifteenth century bookshop as it is a beautiful building atop the famous ‘Keere street’.
Lastly we finished by eating a delicious full English breakfast at trading post coffee, what more could you want then sausage, beans, bacon, toast, and eggs.
We even see Manchester United play football.
