Poland is a country rich in superb culture, attractive landscapes, and magnificent historical landmarks, and this fact is slowly but surely coming to the attention of foreign tourists.
The country of Poland may be found in northeastern Europe, and it is surrounded by the Baltic Sea and Lithuania to the north, Slovakia and the Czech Republic to the south, Ukraine and Belarus to the east, and Germany to the west. To the north are lowlands along the shore, while to the south are mountain ranges, making for a stunning landscape. The longest river in the country is the Vistula, which divides the country almost exactly in half.
Numerous attractions in Poland are worth seeing on every trip there. The Main Market Square in Krakow is a fantastic place to spend some time. This town square is massive for a mediaeval town and is flanked by structures that are well over a thousand years old. Warsaw is not just Poland's capital but also its biggest city. With about 2.7 million people calling the broader metropolitan region home, it's a popular tourist destination and a thriving commercial centre.

People told me to not go to this place in Poland. They said it's not safe, crime rate is high, Russians lived here in the past... But I was curious and went anyway. I wanted to experience Legnica for myself. And this is what I found. I had a local guide. We talked about this. He showed me a beautiful big city park, the Old Town, castle, churches and even an abandoned military hospital built by Germans and also used by the Russians. The history of this place is so interesting. And I didn't feel unsafe at all. Maybe it's reputation and people still judge from the past?
One of the greatest abandoned places in Poland. This huge hospital complex, built in 1929 by Germans and taken over by the Soviet army after World War II, consisted of several deparments, including Surgery, Infectious Diseases, Psychiatry and other ones.
Let's go on this Lower Silesia trip. Or how we call it: Dolny Śląsk. We start in beautiful Wrocław. And then took the train to Legnica. Where to next? This is just the beginning! Let's explore together 🇵🇱🥰

Lower Silesia, Poland. The first thing that tourists do before choosing a destination for a holiday in Poland is to look at reviews of experienced travelers, read information about interesting and beautiful locations, memorable places. And of course, go to You Tube to find some video reviews. The Lower Silesian Voivodeship is located in the south-west of Poland, among the people Lower Silesia is compared with the Loire Valley (the place of the French nobility), with many medieval palaces, castles and fortresses. The voivodship quite favorably borders on Germany and the Czech Republic, which allows tourists to combine trips to the two countries with accommodation in Poland.
The region is famous of course for tourism and its historical buildings, and its economic component is the production of food and alcoholic beverages.

Wroclaw has long been the capital of Lower Silesia, a picturesque city with many interesting tourist places, managed to be in the possession of many states, until it was finally returned to Poland. It is called the city of bridges, since five rivers flow through the entire territory, led by the Odra, and are connected by more than 100 bridges across the formed islands. Traditionally, each city has its own symbol, so in Wroclaw these are gnomes who hid at different points, and tourists have a quest to find them, because their height does not exceed 30 cm. Each gnome has its own history of creation, and you can often hear them from tour guides.
Nature of Lower Silesia
Lower Silesia is beautiful mountainous and flat landscapes, noisy, fast-moving streams and a peculiar relief. More than 17% of the territory of the voivodeship belongs to national and protected areas (Karkonosze and Table Mountains), parks with rare animals, unique plants. Lovers of peace, tranquility and fresh air can visit sanatoriums with mineral waters and undergo rehabilitation. Mountain natural trails are ideal for active tourism both in summer and in winter.

If many tourists have already heard quite a few stories and information about Wroclaw, then other cities included in the voivodship are worth mentioning, as they also have many attractions:
Walbrzyg is an ancient city of Lower Silesia, it is shrouded in wartime secrets, and there are rumors that this is where the golden treasure train is located. Also, it will be interesting for tourists to visit a museum dedicated to coal mining and go down into an underground mine.
Legnica is a small town that is pleasant to walk around, go to the Market Square, as well as the city park, where there is a palm house and rare exotic plants.
Lubin is a cozy medieval town on the banks of the Zimnitsa River, offering a quiet measured rest. Walking through the old part of Lubin will bring a lot of pleasure, as well as visiting cultural places: galleries, cultural center.
What to see in Lower Silesia
Nature connoisseurs visiting the region of Lower Silesia should visit the Polyana-Zdrój resort, with the famous Wielka Pieniawa hotel, which has healing springs and carbonic mud baths.
The Knyaz Castle in Ksenzhi is a garden and park area where you can take a walk, see the famous palm house in the region, garden terraces.
Lower Silesian undergrounds require special attention, tourists can visit the underground city of Osówka, and walk 2 km underground through medieval tunnels.
And young travelers will be interested in visiting the Africanarium with various marine life, crocodiles and rare species of turtles.
Attractions
Undoubtedly, the main attraction of the voivodship is Wroclaw and its gnomes, Tumski Island and the Cathedral - the oldest part of the city, which is illuminated by small street lamps in the evening. Another interesting attraction is the Japanese garden with landscape design. One of the highlights of Lower Silesia are the resorts with mineral waters: Kłodzk, Löndek-Zdrój, Swieradow-Zdrój, in the vicinity of which there are many tourist, walking bike routes.
