Two Iconic River Camps in Two Days - Murray & Murrumbidgee

Continuing our country Victoria trip we stop at Nyah, just outside Swan Hill, and we camp on the iconic Murray River. In fact, there are so many great camp spots that we choose to move the van after setting up to a spectacular spot right on the bend of the river.
After attending the Nyah ANZAC Dawn Service we head off again following water.
In the end we settle on a camp ground just outside of Darlington Point in a Regional Park along the Murrumbidgee River. This campground includes 9km of tracks with individual, private camp spots dotted all over it.
Both of these campsites have so much birdlife and fishing - we really need to get some rods.

Darlington Point & The Bunyip Hole. Kidman Way, Murrumbidgee Riverina

Darlington Point & The Bunyip Hole on the Kidman Way, Murrumbidgee, Riverina between Griffith, Hay and Narrandera NSW. History & Scenery.
_Best viewed on a big screen._
What a pleasure it is to visit such a neat and well-maintained town with great community amenities and visitor facilities. Everywhere and everything appeared spotless.
Darlington Point is a surprise to the uninitiated. Its history, the river, walking tracks and picnic opportunities all combine to make a destination that should not be rushed. Locals seem eager to point you in the direction of all the best places.
An old wharf, the lift-span bridge, 100-year-old buildings, cultural centre, wildlife park and stories from the past will leave you with an insight into life beside the Murrumbidgee River through the ages… and you might even expose that elusive and revered Bunyip— to turn myth into legend. I tried but succeeded only with a theory.
This all too brief slideshow is just an introduction to an adventure that awaits.

Around and about in Narrandera. Home of the big playable guitar which unfortunately was closed this time of our visit

This is actually the furthest west of NSW we have travelled to. Previously we have had to turn around and go south due to the heat but this time we are determined to continue further west
