Welcome to Lampang; the land where time stands still. A place where you can truly unwind and experience a unique and infectiously laid-back way of life that has remained largely unchanged for years. Despite all it has to offer, the area still receives comparatively few visitors, giving the area a wonderfully ‘undiscovered’ feel.
So join us as we take a look at just some of the highlights that Lampang has to offer.
Most visitors to Lampang are drawn to the province for its famed Thai Elephant Conservation Centre, the only centre of its kind in Thailand under Royal patronage. Founded in 1992, it currently cares for around 50 Asian elephants as well as housing six of the King’s ten white elephants. Visitors can learn about all about elephant conservation, watch one of the regular elephant performances, and the ever-popular elephant bath time. Elephant trekking, overnight homestays and even mahout training courses are also possible, though I’d strongly recommend making an advanced booking as places fill up fast.
The charming city of Lampang nestled in the broad river valley of the Wang River and surrounded by stunning mountain ranges is home to many impressive Laana era temples, including this one, Wat Phra Tat Lampang Luang located just 30 minutes from the city centre, and definitely worth a visit. Many of the temples in the area are constructed from timber and adorned with ornate carvings and decorations. So if visiting temples is your thing, then you really are spoilt for choice.
For many, travel in Thailand conjures up images of tuk tuks or long tail boats, but Lampang takes an altogether more relaxed approach to getting around. And the preferred method of travel? The good old fashioned horse and cart. So what better was to explore the city than by taking a leisurely ride through the city streets with your feet up in the back of a horse drawn carriage?
Lampang really is a gem in the crown of northern Thailand, so if relaxing riverside bars and restaurants, spectacular temples, friendly, laid-back locals and abundant wildlife and nature are your thing, then why not pay Lampang a visit. We’re sure you won’t regret it.

Wat Chalermprakiat in Lampang Province, Northern Thailand is still somehow a well-kept secret. Despite it being absolutely beautiful, most people don't actually know about it. Even us, pretty well-traveled in Thailand, we'd only ever seen it in a few photos here and there, or a quick cutaway shot in a Thailand video. The place is stunning though. This is the temple for people who don't normally like visiting temples. Really one of the cooler Northern Thailand destinations we've seen.

Chiang Rai is the northernmost province in Thailand. Filled with lush hills, fine local food, an abundance of temples, and cultural sights, this is one of the country’s most fascinating regions. And although it’s located right next to the well-trodden Chiang Mai, this province doesn’t receive as many tourists. In fact, most people visit Chiang Rai as a day trip from Chiang Mai, but we recommend spending at least a few days here to fully soak in the unique culture. Chiang Rai City is the main hub to explore the hidden corners of the region from. But the city itself also has a wide variety of attractions. LAMPANG, THAILAND // Wat Phra That Lampang Luang // Travel Vlog

Lampang, Thailand is a city in Northern Thailand with a lot of character. Horse-drawn carriages, colonial architecture, many temples to visit... there's a bit to see here. Though it's not a major destination for Western tourists, I had a great time taking in the chill vibe of the city. One of the biggest attractions in the area is Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, a large temple complex 30 minutes outside the city.

First Impressions Of LAMPANG | Underrated Northern Thailand 🇹🇭

We made it to the underrated city of Lampang here in Northern Thailand! 🇹🇭 This video is of our first impressions here in the city!

First things first we went for a bowl of beef khao soi here in Lampang as it would be a sin not to while in Northern Thailand! We went to the legendary khao soi Islam where a bowl of delicious beef khao soi cost only 45 THB. The owner was lovely here I really recommend visiting.

Straight after we got some little sweet mung bean treats shaped into fruits for 20 THB, these were simple but surprisingly tasty.

We came across a beautiful wooden burmese temple that was over 100 years old and built by burmese workers, such a nice place to walk around and find peace in the city of Lampang.

Met a lovely local thai lady selling coffee for 15 THB, the people of Lampang honestly were ridiculously kind in our time spent in the city. We then got some stuffed fried chilli's for 10 THB each which were again pretty tasty snacks.

The food tour went on as we visited a legendary beef meatball noodle soup spot here in Lampang, this place was extremely busy people in and out non stop, a bowl of noodles here set us back 50 THB each for a large bowl and it was phenomenal.

Headed through Lampang on a bit of a DIY walking tour, checked out the clock tower and stunning white chiang Rai temple before heading to the riverfront.

When we got to the riverfront we went for a bit of a wander through the ancient northern Thailand style wooden home streets which was super cool.

Walked down the river past all the Lampang rooster artwork to the 100 year old white bridge where we took a look over the river and city views.

We then had some really good ba bin thai desserts for 20 THB before meeting more friendly thai locals who had some cute doggos.

Finished the day in a non pretentious small coffee shop, got two americanos for 45 THB each, Northern Thailand has some amazing coffee growing in the local areas and I can safely say it is delicious, oh and the coffee shop also had a super cute puppy and cats!

Overall so far I'm loving Lampang here in Northern Thailand, for me it really is underrated there are pretty much no foreigners here, the food is amazing, the people are ridiculously warm. I can't say a single bad thing 🇹🇭
