Fenton Lake State Park is a mellow mountain escape⛰. The Rio Cebolla flows through the park and there is a fishing and canoeing lake too. The park also attracts campers, hikers and cross-country skiers. There is even a fun playground for the kids. Although most anglers prefer the warmth and comfort of summer, there is also winter ice fishing🎣.

Fenton Lake; New Mexico Adventures
My friend and I decided to take advantage of Veterans Weekend and go camping at Fenton Lake in New Mexico. Fenton Lake is located in the Jemez Mountains and is a popular fishing destination. Fun fact: This place was featured as a filming location in the 1976 movie, 'The Man Who Fell to Earth.' While camping we went canoeing, off-roading, and visited a hot springs. We did photo shoots at all of these locations, so if you want to see the photos head on over to my instagram:
I am constantly traveling and going on adventures and so I decided to finally make a video out of it! So here is my first attempt at an adventure video. Please let me know in the comments below what you think.

Fenton Lake - The Closest NM Mountain Lake Fit to Paddle 'Round
Fenton Lake State Park is located at 7900 feet elevation in the Jemez Mountains, about 65 miles Northwest of Rio Rancho, and about 10 miles off NM Route 4. The park consists of 700 acres of Ponderosa Pine forest and high mountain meadow land, plus about 35 acres of lake. The fishing's good, and the lake's stocked regularly with rainbow and brown trout. Fenton Lake State Park/ PATRIOT CAMPER TENT/ RoamTownGirl Review
Welcome back to my continuing series on the State Parks of New Mexico. After being closed for most of 2020, the state of New Mexico decided to extend the expiration of their Annual State Park Pass for a full year, so I am finishing up my tour of (almost) all of the New Mexico State Parks!
In this video I not only show you around this scenic campground at Fenton Lake, but I will also give you a glimpse at the super cool PATRIOT CAMPER. My hope is that after you watch this video that you will have a better idea of this state park campground’s layout and even which site might suit you best!
So, I hope that you enjoy my unique reviews of the different New Mexico State Parks and that these videos help you have a great time when you visit there one day!

Video of Fenton - LBL Lake Access, KY from Staci R.
from inland area with cypress to west, north side of ramp area

Staci R.'s Review on The Dyrt:
▶︎ Lake Access Only, not the Campground
Fenton Campground and Lake access are in the same general location, but are actually separate. The ramp, floating dock and dike that allows access to Kentucky Lake is a favorite among locals, as it puts you about mid lake (N-S), and Kentucky Lake has some of the cleanest waters and the largest fish of any place. This area is always busy, 24/7, pretty much year round. There is a vault toilet, the campground is just east a bit, there is plenty of parking for trucks and trailers. The new Fenton bridge is a four lane bridge, with a walking/bike path that is a start/end point for the Hardwoods Trail, which goes east-west across Land Between the Lakes.

Lake Katherine is Spectacular!
The hike to Lake Katherine bear Walden, Colorado is spectacular. The drive to the trailhead takes you past several farms with hardly a car on the road.
The small parking lot held about 10 cars, and the trailhead leads to two different lake so we hardly saw a soul.
The forest service was out that day and cutting away fallen trees from the two mile hike which also features a waterfall.
While the dead forest due to Rocky Mountain Pine Beatle was a bit disappointing, Lake Katherine made up for it. Absolutely spectacular!!
