Trying to explore Ladysmith, BC and the Cowichan Valley (Here's what I found!) | Vancouver Island

Trying to find things to do in Ladysmith, BC and the Cowichan Valley (This is what I found!)

Ladysmith, BC and the Cowichan Valley are located on Vancouver Island and a short (hour plus) BC Ferries ride away from Vancouver Canada. It's a very friendly, nature oriented area of British Columbia that is quickly growing in population.

We begin our trip taking BC Ferries over to Nanaimo BC and driving down to Ladysmith. Ladysmith is a cute and small community that is know it's hospitality and located right beside the ocean. We spent a few hours explore downtown Ladysmith, which is filled with a ton of local vendors and cute boutique shops.

We spend our days nights staying at the Best Western located in Chemainus, BC. Which is a quick 10 minute drive to Ladysmith.

Chemainus is a lovely, seaside town, with lots of beautiful murals and it's unique, year round Christmas decorated downtown is worth the stop for anyone driving by.

The last bit of our trip was spent in the small town of Lake Cowichan. Located about an hour away from Nanaimo and more inland Lake Cowichan is the starting point for anyone looking to explore further inland and see the other side of Vancouver Island. We visited a old decommissioned Canadian army base.

Thanks for watching and leave a comment. It was a short trip and we missed a lot but hopefully you enjoyed the video.

Ladysmith, BC, Canada - Heritage by the Sea

This video, shows just some of my favourite sights in and around the picturesque Town of Ladysmith, B.C.
Built on a hillside overlooking the beautiful waters of Ladysmith Harbour is one of the oldest settlements on Vancouver Island, the community originally known as Oyster Harbour, established in 1899 by James Dunsmuir, son of Vancouver Island’s prosperous coal-mining family. As you can see, I had some fun in making this, and hope you’ll enjoy it, but nothing can compare to an actual visit to this beautiful place here on southern Vancouver Island.

Some interesting facts:

-Ladysmith is located on the 49th parallel (the northern latitudinal, marking the Canada and United States international border from B.C.’s mainland all the way to northern Ontario).
-The community was designed as a recreation and dormitory complex for miners, serving as a shipping port for coal from Nanaimo, and James Dunsmuir moved many buildings by rail to this peaceful spot he had chosen.
-Town of Ladysmith was officially founded in 1904, however the area had its origins more than 5,000 years ago. Stz’uminus First Nations communities settled on the waterfront due to its natural harbour. The sea and coastline provided them with abundant fishing and hunting for generations.
-The town that stands today has its roots in an 1898 decision by James Dunsmuir, a son of coal baron Robert Dunsmuir. He chose Oyster Harbour as the shipping port for his nearby mine.

As always, thanks for watching. If you liked it, do share it with your friends, it's much appreciated!

Today we go in search of Christie falls in Ladysmith, BC and as the title says it's home to Pamela Anderson who is not associated with me nor does she have any involvement with me or this video. I am merely using her name as clickbait for those who do not read the full title. For shame not reading the full titles. Titles looks like something Pamela has an abundance of though.

North Vancouver Island is known for its rugged and wild beauty, tiny towns, and plentiful wildlife. It’s a picturesque playground for travellers, explorers, and wanderers—especially those who love the outdoors.

Port Hardy is the largest community in Vancouver Island North. It is the starting point for the BC Ferries Inside Passage route to Prince Rupert which is a once in a lifetime journey along the Discovery Coast Passage to the north coast and the Haida Gwaii. It is also right by the amazing Cape Scott Provincial Park.

Storey’s Beach in Port Hardy is a great place to spend a good chunk of time relaxing. You can simply hang out on the beach, watch the boats nearby, play in the water, and have a nice family day. You can also bring your kayak and paddle to Shell Island! Beaver Harbour Park is close by as well, where you can have a picturesque family picnic.

Vancouver Island Tour [PS E4] Comox and Ladysmith

Vancouver Island tour through Comox, Courtney and Ladysmith. Guess who was born and raised in Ladysmith ? Camping in Campbell River travelling south towards Ladysmith before going on BC Ferries back to Vancouver and onto White Rock B.C. This is the end of the first trip that I took for testing equipment as this is all new to me. 2021 will bring season #1 to start my video log of my adventure travels in BC.

Scenic Drive From Ladysmith To Nanaimo BC [4K]

British Columbia's Cowichan Valley (Exploring Historic Ladysmith & Chemainus, BC) | Canada 🇨🇦

Instead of driving straight from Nanaimo to Victoria, I decided to take the 100 km drive at a much slower pace, and planned stops in the small historic villages of Ladysmith & Chemainus.

Ladysmith is home to one of British Columbia's best bakeries (which was closed due to the current lockdown restrictions) and boasts a colourful downtown core, full of historic buildings. Once a major logging port on Vancouver Island, the town now serves as a sleeper community for nearby Nanaimo, 15 minutes up the road.

After exploring Ladysmith, I headed to nearby Chemainus to check out its three dozen murals that beautifully capture the essence of its history. This is one special town, with a myriad of artworks around every corner of its small downtown core, and is well worth a stop en route from Nanaimo to Victoria.
