During our trip to Komani / Queenstown, we were captivated by the town's grandeur, surpassing our expectations of a typical destination. Upon arrival, our hearts sank at the sight of the beautiful town hall, once an emblem of history and pride, now a charred ruin due to unfortunate protests. It was a painful reminder of the fragility of cherished landmarks. However, our spirits were uplifted as we discovered numerous well-preserved historic buildings, particularly the awe-inspiring churches. Fortunate enough to set foot inside one, we were greeted by an architectural marvel. Driving through the town, we encountered old war memorials in the park, where people were joyously immersed in their activities. Our accommodation proved to be a delightful haven, meticulously maintained and inviting. The following morning, after a hearty breakfast, we delved deeper into the town, uncovering more of its hidden treasures, amongst which quite a few educational ones, before bidding farewell and embarking on our long journey back home. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #easterncape #komani #queenstown

Both of us were eagerly anticipating our visit to Ladybrand. Upon arrival in the afternoon, we wasted no time and immediately began exploring the town. Our attention was quickly drawn to the plethora of sandstone buildings that adorned the streets. Among our discoveries were a number of churches and the station. Although no longer operational, its architectural charm remained intact. By sheer luck, we stumbled upon two long-standing war memorials, adding unexpected depth to our experience. S1 – Ep 316 – Rietfontein – A Border Town Between South Africa and Namibia!
Our drive through Rietfontein, a town located on the border of South Africa and Namibia, was an intriguing experience. Our first stop was at the border post itself and it was remarkably quiet, giving off a sense of tranquility amidst the surrounding wilderness. As we explored the town, one particular attraction caught our attention, the Rhenish Mission church. We were astounded to learn that the church was established in 1885 left. We marvelled at the historical significance it held. Although we were unable to enter the building, the exterior alone was enough for us to appreciate its beauty and historical value. For our overnight stay, we chose the Kalahari Info Centre, which proved to be an exceptional choice. This place provided us with a memorable and enjoyable experience. Mini vs Maxi Adventure across the Eastern Cape 2011
The Mini vs Maxi Adventure across the Eastern Cape was a Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency Tourism Month 2011 initiative where bloggers were invited to go on an adventure through the Eastern Cape. The idea was to show that the Eastern Cape was made up of both big and small adventures and that you can get to them and enjoy them in any kind of vehicle. The two teams consisted of three team members each with Team Maxi driving a big 4x4 and Team Mini in a sedan. It wasn't a competition as each team had a different itinerary to follow over the four days. Each team was given a video camera to capture their progress and this footage was edited into a couple of minutes which was showed at the launch of Tourism Month. I was part of Team Mini which can be seen in the second half of the video.

Trinity Academy Supports Eastern Cape School
85 students from Trinity Academy in Edinburgh visited Kariega Game Reserve and Farmerfield school, a small rural school near our reserve in the Eastern Cape, towards the end of July 2016.
