*About:*Schwalenberg is a small town in the Lippe district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located about 20 km east of Detmold and consists of eight communes: Schieder, Brakelsiek, Schwalenberg, Lothe, Ruensiek, Wöbbel, Siekholz and Kreienberg. The town has a population of about 8,400 people.
The town is named after the swallows that nest on the nearby mountains. It has a rich and diverse history that dates back to the Roman times. It was once part of the ancient city of Brundisium and later became a county seat of the House of Lippe. The town has preserved some of its medieval and baroque architecture, such as the Schwalenberg Castle, which was built in the 13th century by count Volkwin III and now serves as a hotel and restaurant.
The town is also known for its artistic and cultural heritage. It was home to a group of painters who formed an artists’ colony in the late 19th century. They decorated their houses with colorful murals depicting scenes from nature and folklore. The artists’ colony attracted many visitors from Germany and abroad who admired their work. Today, you can still see some of their paintings on display in various museums and galleries.

A Walk Through Steinheim: Town of History and Culture | 4K
Steinheim an der Murr is a town in the northeastern Ludwigsburg district of Baden-Württemberg, near the border with the Rems-Murr district. The town lies along the lower reaches of the Murr River, nestled in the Bottwartal and Schozach hills, with its landscape extending to the vineyard-covered hills of Kälbling and Bönnig. Geographically, Steinheim is part of the Neckar Basin and the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains, with its highest point at 392.97 m. Notably, Steinheim is the discovery site of Homo steinheimensis, an early human ancestor dating back approximately 250,000 years, making it the third oldest such find in Europe.
The town comprises Steinheim itself and the districts of Höpfigheim (incorporated in 1973) and Kleinbottwar (1971). Steinheim was granted town rights in 1955 and formed the Steinheim-Murr municipal administrative association with the nearby municipality of Murr. The town's history traces back to early settlements, likely during Roman times. By 832, it was part of the Lorsch Monastery’s holdings, and in 972, the Speyer diocese also had property there. Local nobility in the 12th and 13th centuries were vassals of the Counts of Calw-Löwenstein and Württemberg-Grüningen. In 1269, the Dominican Monastery of Mariental gained significant influence, receiving half the town and acquiring the bailiwick by 1271, later under King Adolf of Nassau. Steinheim's imperial immediacy was repeatedly confirmed, and it was fortified under King Albert I. In 1564, it became part of Württemberg but retained certain freedoms, eventually integrating into the Ludwigsburg district in 1938.
The districts of Höpfigheim and Kleinbottwar also boast rich histories, dating back to the Alemannic-Franconian period and medieval monastic holdings. Höpfigheim transitioned through various noble families before becoming part of Württemberg. Similarly, Kleinbottwar, first recorded in 1245, was tied to the Alten-Schaubeck castle and eventually to the von Plieningen family, who consolidated ownership in the late 15th century.

Let's go hiking on the Pyrmonter Felsensteig, aka Pyrmont Rocky Trail ;-)
That trail is one of precisely 26 so called Traumpfade, aka Dream Paths - circular hiking trails of which quite a few have been voted best circular hiking trail in Germany in a given year. The Pyrmonter Felsensteig won that honour in 2015.
The video will include a small section explaining this group of hiking trails.

Tre Top Platzer i Tyskland, julmarknader och promenader i Stade, Bad Pyrmont och Dorsten.
I denna filmen får ni se vår resa genom Tyskland på väg söderut mot Portugal. Vi väljer oss ut tre Top Platzer, då dessa ofta är lite större och vi hittade städer med lagom avstånd på väg mot våra vänner utanför Duisburg. Det blev stopp i den gamla, fina svenskstaden Stade, i kurorten Bad Pyrmont och i Dorsten där vi inte såg så mycket mera än ställplatsen. Vi promenerade och besökte julmarknader och självklart visar vi upp alla tre ställplatserna i filmen.
Alla Top Platz ställplatser finns samlade i en egen app som dessutom har en Stellplatz-Ampel där man kan se om det finns lediga platser på hel del av platserna som har denna beteckningen. Bad Pyrmont | Towns in Germany
One of cozy towns in Germany we visited during our last fall holiday. Bad Pyrmont is a popular spa resort that gained its reputation as a fashionable place for princely vacations in the 17th and 18th centuries. It features a large Kurpark/Spa Garden, with a sizeable outdoor palm garden and a Baroque castle as part of a substantial complex of fortifications dating from the 16th century. Its vapor cave, where therapeutic carbon dioxide vapors emerge from the earth, becomes an unique place in Europe.
