Here’s our 10 days exploring what to do in Sabah. We ended up seeing sunset and sunrise, visiting islands, and wandering through some markets and cities.
Places of Interest Video in Sabah Malaysia Music and Surf Festival, Kalampunian Beach, Kudat
Sabah is a Malaysian state occupying the northern part of the island of Borneo. It's famed for its 4,095m-tall Mount Kinabalu, the country’s highest peak, crowned with distinctive granite spires. Sabah is also known for its beaches, rainforest, coral reefs and abundant wildlife, much of it within parks and reserves. Offshore, the Sipadan and Mabul islands are noted diving destinations.
Kudat City in Sabah, Malaysia
Kudat - northern town of Sabah, closest to the Tip of Borneo, in Malaysia. Hidden tourist gem. Bustling, diverse city in a tropical setting. Great markets. We found a nice 3 star hotel for very reasonable price and next morning caught a public bus to Kota Kinabalu.
S19EP63 | MALAYSIA | TIP OF BORNEO! Sabah
From Kota Kinabalu, we took a (very bumpy) 3-hour ride to Kudat and made our way to the tip of Borneo! We were based at Tapad Do Aman's Jungle Campe for 3 weeks where we did some volunteer work. The routine made for an interesting break from our travels and we quickly fell into a comfortable rhythm. We usually were on duty from 8:00 to 10:30 each morning and again from 18:00 to 21:00 with the rest of the day to spend as we please. Most days felt very short and after catching up on some admin we headed to the beach nearby until sunset. We sadly ended up not filming much during this time but managed to catch a few key moments on one day we had off.

Northernmost tip of Borneo Tanjung Simpang Mengayau Kudat Sabah Malaysia Travel 穿越婆罗洲最北端沙巴马来西亚旅游胜地
Location : Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, Kudat Division, Sabah, Malaysia.
“Simpang Mengayau means ‘lingering junction’ as it is here that the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu Seas flowing from the east . It is located in the Kudat Peninsula, about three and a half hours (or 215 kilometres) drive from Kota Kinabalu City.”
Driving out of Kudat and heading for the Tip of Borneo, we decided to make a quick visit to Bak Bak beach situated on the east side. Beautiful place but no accommodation or visitors other than the 3 of us. I believe it caters more for the locals during the weekends.
We continued on through quite a bad patch of dirt road before passing through a village with a narrow and winding road. The first thing upon arrival at the newly built car park was to check out the open air venue of the annual Sunset Music Festival which will be held on 3rd and 4th June 2016.
Next was the famous globe and a couple of selfies to do some justice to its fame.
With the low tide, it was possible to walk all the way to the very end of the tip where the 2 seas of Sulu and South China are divided here.
Along the beachfront we noticed at least 5 B&Bs and chalets with prices ranging from RM40 to RM500, offering lots of outdoor activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea angling, kayaking and surfing.

The Tip Of Borneo - Best Beach In Sabah
Today we will be taking you to the tip of borneo and showing you the best beach in sabah kalampunian beach.
Kudat is around 4 hours drive north of kota kinabalu along the coast. The tip of borneo sits in the sulu sea directly across from palawan in the philippines.
The tip of borneo is a very popular destination because who wouldnt want to stand on the corner of the country right overlooking the ocean. There are good photo oppotunities all over this area.
Right next to the tip of borneo you will see kalampunian beach which is a spot of paradise and probably the best beach in sabah. The sand is pristine with no stones and the water is refreshingly cold with the beach pretty quiet and empty. Not many tourists visit this part of sabah and that helps make this place even more special.
Along the beach is lots of places to eat and drink and get out of the sun, there are even accomodations all along the beach and upto the tip of borneo which would be the best places to stay

Borneo Malaysia - Kudat To Sandakan By Car
Today we take you on a road trip from kudat to Sandakan Borneo in malaysia by car.
So driving from area to area in Borneo is never a quick drive, because of the winding roads a journey of around 100 miles takes 4 times longer because you must drive a lot slower. The good thing about driving around Borneo though is the spectacular views of being in the middle of the jungle surrounded by deep Forrest and if your lucky seeing wild animals on the road as you drive past like wild monkeys.
The journey from Kudat to Sandakan is 400km which is a hugely far distance and long drive. It took us around 7-8 hours to get to sandakan but it did only costs maybe 10 gbp to get there.
You can also Fly to Sandakan from kota kinabalu which takes 40 minutes but you will not see the unreal views that you would see if you drove and you can take as long and you like stopping off at places along the way that you would of missed if you fly.
Overall we much preferred the idea of driving than flying because once in sandakan we did not have to worry about waiting for taxis and paying taxis everywhere, it was a much nicer experience to drive and we would recommend you to drive to if you have the time to.
